P + D training for VLM 2013

My parkruns recently are stuck in the low 19's despite clocking sub19 previously, I assume this is due to fatigue caused by the extra mileage in my legs. I'm hoping (praying) that this aerobic base building is actually working and it's simply the lack of mini-taper before the 5k races that are to blame. Anyone else noticing similar results with their parkruns while base building?

Carefull with the beer Kier, you need to start those P&D schedules in pretty good shape.

Hows everyones weekend been? I did 13miles this am to start of my week of training. I did 40miles last week so build up going nicely.

15.5M here this morning for a biggest ever week of 49M

Started off fine, then it began to rain, and rain, and rain some more. And then the wind picked up, and got steadily stronger and then it got quite cold. At the finish i was drenched and cold.

On getting through the front door my missus said to me

" you can't tell me you enjoyed running in that"

 to which my answer was

" Enjoyed it !? Naa, i bloody LOVED it !!!"

Ship-star - tired legs plus no speedwork would be cause - I wouldn't worry about small changes in 5k pace, building the base will be key

Nothing here - knee still hurts from Frankfurt, so I'm taking a few days off.

20M this morning in the wind and rain. 10M of which was on the VLM route. Did something very stupid and ran through the Blackfriars Tunnel. Should have obeyed the 'No Pedestrians' sign. Pavement was only a few inches wide and buses came hurtling past me. Idiot.

Longest ever training week for me - 61 miles. It may have aggravated the dormant PF injury though...

12 miles in 1 hour 1.52 for me I was going to do a 10 mile race but due to unforseen circumstances so to speak I couldnt go had to run this afternoon instead, but I am sure the LSR was more benefit to me than a hard race anyway...I do all my long runs at 70% max heart rate does anyone else use a HRM for these runs ?

I followed P&D70 for my first marathon in October - did 2:49 and now considering a spring marathon to try for sub 2:45.

I'm fine ta Tek. Just getting my legs back after a disapointing Chester marathon, I'm back up to 60 miles this week and thinking about whether I can squeeze another (not raced) marathon inbetween now and Manchester marathon at the end of April.

I'm going to give Hadd a go until Febuary and then hit the P&D 70 mile schedule. 

I'm at roughly 8:15 for 70%, 8:00 for 75% and, once a week, 7:15 for 85%. Really enjoying the training so far.

Its the type of running I like mate, you can listen to a bit of music and daydream a bit while you're doing it. None of this running round like a lunatic!

I was umming and arring about trying Hadd over the summer then I saw what it did for you at Frankfurt and that was the final clincher!

I did a steady 11.5mile run this evening in 1h32 made a little more interesting by being locked inside Finsbury Park by the local council parks lockup person meaning I had to climb through a gap in the fence to get out

@Teknik - I've been doing intervals on a Tuesday so I've been doing a little speedwork too just out of enjoyment.
