Big G - I've read that book 'Running with the Kenyans' and it was very good, they have it in Newton Abbot library if you don't want to buy it!
molly - at least in the heat you're not out for so long whilst doing the short speedy stuff
Emmy - do you have a race this weekend?
Hi Shades,
Yes - i'll be running the "Night of Flanders" marathon on 21st June. It's going to be a lonely time as it's the belgian championships as well.
Aren't you running this weekend as well?
Emmy - yes, I'm at Shrewsbury.
Are you ready to have a go at more even mile splits for this race?
There's usually quite a few Brits do that race too, so you won't be that lonely
Of course! I forgot that Shrewsbury was already here
Yes - my plan is to run as even pace as I can. I was thinking of a 10 second variation each side of my planned pace (e.g. 10.45mm planned pace). Do you have a suggestion for what mm to try? or if I should try to keep it 5 seconds either side?
I know that Traviss is coming over and hoping to meet up with him but don't know any of the others. I need to read the race instructions for whether or not I need a headtorch. The route looks fairly 'town ish' so I don't think it should be an issue.
Big G, I heard that interview too re the Kenyans. Basically said that Europeans will never stand a chance against them in long distances as their stamina is built up over many years through running 4 miles and back to school! Makes you realise how brilliant Paula is given that none of the Kenyan women have ever got close to her record.
Not been out for a run yet today (too hot) so will have to go much later.
PS: now wearIng my '1st' badge with pride

Well done Fastkoala!! Are your children proud of you? How many parents were racing?
Not many Emmy! There were 2 mums races with about 8 in each!
Only one of my three sons was there but I'm sure he was proud. He wanted me to beat his BF's mum but she was in the other race (I was quite relieved as she is fast!)
Our cashier at work is going to Athens in October with her daughter to support her son-in-law who is running the Spartathlon - he qualified by winning the Grand Union Canal race -143 miles in less than 30 hours. I can't imagine the amount of training this needs.
Well done Slowkoala on your win in front of your son.
