Mowser - How is your shoulder? I think trolleys are great and so useful. Everyone uses one over here so instead of being an old lady - you can be a suave european
Slowkoala - I had the same op as your youngster but I didnt have a good experience (for various reasons).
S3200H - That's a shame. See how you get on this weekend?
Snapdragon - Well done on already being a member of the VLM club! Did you get a ballot place? There's a wealth of knowledge on this thread
Molly - good news about the weather. We've had minimal flooding here but this morning it was warmer but blowing a gale.
I have a 10km run this weekend and i've been in put in the "fun runners" sections. I feel that I may have to add lights to my outfit to make it exceptionally "fun"
Mowser - I think I saw you the other day just after four, you were coming down the hill past Amwell View and I was going up on the return from the co-op. Hope you're feeling well.
Hope everyone is ok after the wind/floods.
very strong wind here, my lads 12ft trampoline blow over a 9ft high wall and landed in the farmers field across the road, it is in a very bad way apparently. poor lad will be gutted when he gets home from school, having said that, not as gutted as me when I have to buy him a new one
just had a quick check, the one he had was £300, dentist £240, good week then
Happy Friday all.
Had my company / team Xmas do last night in London.
So today's going to be a quiet one
Will be out for a 10 miler or so on Sunday.
I'm disappointed not to get short listed for the Asics262 beyond Bootcamp, but it was a great opportunity. I didn't get a call to say I hadn't got in, only an email and that was after the short lists had been announced, so I knew before they mailed me.
I would like some feedback as to where I could improve etc, but they have a big job to do to manage the process and I'm grateful for the experience.
The shortlisted sub4 group are great, so I wish them luck getting that one golden ticket.
Belated Birthday wishes Big-G, hope the injury heals quickly Shades and Emmy have " fun" on Sunday dressing up
S3200H, the idea of a trampoline bouncing away seems ironic to me!, good luck collecting and repairing.
Happy running all.
Rattler - sorry you didn't make it through to the final 6 . Guess you'll just have to make do with Shadies . Seriously, there is a lot of support and advice on these forums, often from very experienced runners - but you'll have to decide for yourself what to take note of and what to ignore. Do you belong to a running club?
Auranya - yes, sounds like me (easy to spot now ). Do come up and say hello.
S3200H - double ouch . Won't your household insurance cover the trampoline?
Arm still aching/uncomfortable - though easier when sleeping for the past couple of nights. As I have to keep it clamped to my side until Jan I won't find out how little I can move it until then .
Whoop, whoop - youngest son came home this morning (completely unannounced) for 2 weeks R&R . Though no doubt he will spend most of his time with his mates .
Off now with my trolley - I'll try to look chic and Italian .
Auranya - did you recognise mowzer cos of her new mauve trolley?
S3200H - I was going to say the same as mowzer, garden furniture is usually covered by your home contents insurance.
Rattler - I'm really sorry you didn't get short listed. I had a look at the finalists and shan't be voting for any of them as without their forum names I don't know who they are and I believe some have never been on RW forum and then start a thread expecting us to vote for them.
I think what you need to do now is get a great sub 4 marathon done and show them how wrong they were not to choose you. They've not had much success in the past with their chosen few and some have even bottled it on the day.
mowzer - chic Italian mowzer that is - great news your son is home
Bad luck Rattler - I saw all the threads from the people asking for votes and checked the website and saw you weren't on the list It does seem to have turned into more of a popularity contest (i.e., who has the biggest facebook/twitter list, or who works in the biggest office) as some of the people are brand new to the forums but are doing well in their categories. I went through and voted for the people who have been around on the forums for a while, even though I personally haven't interacted with them on here.
I think there is going to be another "RW Forum 6" thing this year, and the threads from last year were good. As well Shades thread, the other main thread I contribute to is the 3:30-4:00 RW Forum 6 thread from late last year. I'm not sure what the criteria is for it, but maybe put your name in the hat for that? I was tempted, but the marathon isn't my main thing at the moment.
Hmmm, food for thought. The selection process of voting for the final 5 (from a shorlisted 15 or so) does seem flawed and there are a few threads stating their dissaproval of this.
They could have a blind voting system and allow the RW heads to decide from both this and their own views - but then there'd be accusations of favouritism there too - so not easy.
It was Shades plan that got me to a 4.09 at VLM this year - which I would not have got anywhere near without. So following this more closely this year and ensuring I include core exercises, cross training and proper dietary process will get me under 4 hours for the Brighton Marathon in April for sure.
I think I need to add more longer runs and really build that endurance, as it was tiredness (wall?) at 21 miles that took its toll in London.
Rattler - Forum 6 is great and starts up quite soon.
