and put on a little bit of makeup...

I challenge anyone to get these lyrics! (a heavy metal band favourite of mine)

Well, after tonight's anticvs, I doubt I will manage anything much, so I guess I'll be in the gym for a few metres on the treadie and bike, then maybe a swim and sauna later!

Nighjt all!

Sounds like you had fun Fell Liker!

What: Auckland Masters 10k Road Race. Didn't know how I would go as I still did my long run yesterday. Not a big turn out but one of our best woman marathoners, now 40 lead the field home. It was an out and back course, and there was a big gap between me and the runner in front of me. Half way on the return journey I lost the plot and turned off to the right instead of going straight ahead. Managed to go from 3rd Vet woman to 6th very quickly! Couldn't pick them up again - finished in a disappointing 47.25. Never mind it was a good effort run - and they probably would have picked me up anyway but I didn't have to give them a helping hand!!

could it be "system of a down " by any chance

Morning All

What: 8 mile tempo at lunchtime HM Pace

Why: One week to marathon, sunday is uually intervals day but don't want to take the risk of running that hard and getting injured, so will back off a touch.

Last Hard: Monday

Last Rest: yesterday

Sporta: Thanks for the vote of confidence, this will be the first marathon in several years that I'm going into with the intention of racing rather than cruising. Makes me feel nervous, you would think after more than 20 of the damn things I'd be past that stage!

Morning all,

NZC - With going off course and having a long run in your legs from yesterday I wouldn't beat yourself up the time. Well done.

What: 10 miles steady.
Why: Weekly long run (for me).

Enjoy the day.

Morning

NZC - Nearly did that once but luckily i only ran a few yards before realising my mistake.
Still a good run after that long run.

Lyrics have no idea - even though i do like some HM myself.

Gobi - tis nice when you have the track to yourself. Tell me more about this 6 minute test. Is it see how far you can run in 6 minutes?

Not been around much live , enthusiasm has gotten in the way and set up a road block
4.1 miles today making 8.2 miles for the week.
Hardly impressive for marathon training but hoping the blip ends here.
and that JCB comes soon and clears the road.

10 miles done and dusted and I felt strong.

So that's 40 miles done for the third week in a row, very pleased.
This is new ground for me.

Off to stuff my face at the local cantonese lunchtime as a reward.

Mmmm

Just back from gym, ran 8.5 miles at 7-10 pace which didn't feel overly hard. Must be fitter than I thought ! Hopefully 26.2 at 8 min miles shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility. We shall see!

Off on holiday on Thursday, not counting the days or anything!

Morning all

Last day in Tobago.

What: Beach bumming and windsurfing followed by another hot run. Prob about 12 miles.

Peeks in sheepishly wondering if anyone recognises overweight fat cat....

Apologies for not keeping in touch. Have had holiday and am back in India for 2 weeks, so an afternoon catching up on a few thread issues here.

Firstly 200mins. took some time to find out what the story was, but did so eventually. I missed the 200miles day but will do something today on the tready and send many healing thoughts to you mate.

Secondly, congrats to Minks, don't think I've been been on since the starting point.

Not sure I can list all other injuries, racing successes, recoveries, personal highs and lows that I've skimmed through, but its good to see you all here.

I gather BR's running again, good on you, hope the reovery stays solid, Hill work is obviously good for you ;-)

From this morning: NZC, its very runners nightmare going off course. I've done it twice, both off road. Once on a relay costing the team ca 2 mins and once in race where the big left arrow in front of me caused me to turn right. On both occasions other runners saved the day and called me back.

Had very intermittent running over the last 8 weeks. had to do a lot of cycling to let calf/achilles heal. then after running for about a week have had a holiday break and now 2 weeks travel. Managed a flat 10k in 45mins early august as a trial. Quite pleased to not be slower, but a long way to get to sub 1:40 HM again.

It's Ganesh Charturi here so there's a lot of elephant idols about. had a sight seeing tour and went into one of the old temples. Had to smile as the guy switched the offering plate indicator note from 20Rs to 100 Rs as I came round. I did the honorable thing btw.

Off for an interval session now and then some Indian food (curry would be an insult). Chennai early tomorrow.

Jules - excellent!

Pammie

yes, it is fitness test to assess my current level of fitness for my new coach.

I managed 1760 metres or 4 laps + 160 metres @around 5:30 per mile pace. I should be happy with this but I had a bad 400 on lap 2 and lost 6-8 seconds.

Splits 82 88 80 80 the 30 for 160 metres
I have no idea what happened on lap 2 but I think it cost me 40-60metres.

Great fun though

Good afternoon:

Good running Stu, you must be mightily encouraged after the last 3-4 weeks, hopefully no niggles to speak of.

Christine: Going off course - yes me too. Still as you say, you got a decent pace workout.

This mornings effort was 2hrs 12mins of random running. All a bit "here, there and everywhere". Given, that last week was such a good weeks training, a rather weary, heavy legged effort was always on the cards for this morning. By the time I reached the bottom of the garden, my suspicions were well confirmed - so this was a real time on feet job. I'd guess its somewhere around 17.5 miles, just need to measure it up - if I can remenber where I went.

More a feeling of depletion than fatigue, but rather worringly, the sciatica feels very tight, though now somewhat relieved by the stretching - my need to downgrade to guarded optimism (still pretty euphoric, by my standards).

Hi folks

Well done Stu

Dubai Dave, from your training methinks you will be doing your 26.2 way faster than 8 min miles - good luck

What:- very gentle 7-1/2 miles after hilly intervals yesterday to keep the legs freshish for a long hilly run planned for tomorrow.
