No running today, due to foot injury. Have to pay my respects though, so I'm going to put cushioning insoles in my parade boots to ease the pain of marching to the war memorial.

What: 2 miles of squadded marching in boots, to and from the war memorial.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Last hard: Today, but not physically.

Last rest: Yesterday.

Last Hard: Cant remember, ok 27 October, had a cold since :)
Last Rest: Yesterday

They even start the race at 11:02 as a mark of respect, nice touch

Morning all, still on a high from yesterday's race!

What: 10 miles at easy pace.
Why: raced yesterday so runner's high will get me round this morning!
Last hard: yesterday.
Last rest: Friday.

10/11/2002 at 09:10
And again...well done Hilly.
What: XC race 5 miles
Why: Club race
Last hard: Wednesday
Last rest: Friday
Snicks' has been socialising too much. Once every few months I let my hair down. HR is way too high, knackered etc...but hey, it's the perfect weather for a run - rude not to, really
10/11/2002 at 09:17
Hi all!

What: 8.8 miles at relaxed pace
Why: Long slow run, gradually building up again from a summer of inactivity after injury
Last Hard: Wednesday
Last Rest: Friday

I'll post the congratulations to Laura and Hilly today so hopefully you read this.
Well done on your respective performances yesterday.

As for me:
Ventured out at 6.30am for a long run into yet more rain and did my long route of around 16.5 miles in 2.02.30 which is an improvement of 5 minutes from the first time I did this loop 2 months ago,and about on target for my marathon 'goal' pace.
The rain finally let up with about half a mile to go...Last couple a bit tough but managed to hold the 7m30 pace.
Will say is that there is an abundance of beautiful colours in the woodland at this time of year, makes it good to be outside in such awful conditions!
Why : wanted to do a long run at a reasonable pace.
Last Hard : Today
Last Rest : Thursday

This weeks mileage : 49.5 - so much for taking it easy after last weeks holiday....and my biggest week since pre FLM. rewarding (?) myself with an easier week next week (shorter speedwork).

Morning All!

What: 16km run, wet, windy conditions fairly happy with the time of 1hr 15 mins.

Why: Should be longer but watching my slight ankle niggle, so easing back.

Last Hard : Think I will be honest and say today, hills were a killer today with the wind and the rain.........and those poxy leaves!

Last Rest : Yesterday.

My sesh went well - bit sore in the left leg, but physio seems to be working. Did it in 69 minutes, which is 4 minutes slower than just pre FLM 2002, but I'm happy with that.

The question is, do I stick with that next Sunday or go for 10 miles plus? WIll see how I feel tomorrow etc.

what, 3.5 easy run, I was out for 30 mins, was going to do the loop again but it was chucking it down. did enjoy running in the rain, very liberating but i was just to soggy to face going round again. might even get into cross country.

going swimming this afternoon with the family

10/11/2002 at 13:30
What: about 12 miles, slowly, along the coast road, through the pine woods and back along the beach. Pretty! But exhausting... A couple of times I was cut off by tendrils of incoming sea and had to splash through little pools of water!
Why: Hmmm...
Last hard: Monday
Last rest: yesterday
10/11/2002 at 14:28

What: 13 miles in the Park/on the Common, combined.

Nice to see so many runners in the Park today. Like an M25 for runners, so it was.

10/11/2002 at 14:45
CONGRATS on getting out there and doing the XC race.

What: 18 miler
Why: Long run
Last hard run: Today
Last rest day: Friday

A bit knackered for the last 30 minutes, but overall felt OK.
10/11/2002 at 14:49
what : 9 miles
why : havn't really done much since wednesday night apart from gym work
last hard day : today
last rest day : friday

i've been running for a few months now, but have only been following some kind of schedule for 2 weeks. I cannot seem to get my distance milage rates below 8min 30s pace no matter how hard i try. Is this normal? It's getting a little frustrating.
10/11/2002 at 16:15
What: 7 miler with hills in 62 mins.
Why: God knows
Weather: awful, stair rods.
New kayanos: great but wet and muddy on first run.
How I feel: Crap, guts playing the samba, etc
Recovery: Beer and severe back ache.

Never felt this bad....Last nights booze
session was a serious mistake.

10/11/2002 at 16:17
What: tried out my ankle (and detrained cardiorespiratory system) on my boring old quarter-marathon loop.
Why: Time I tried a proper run. First post-injury and hadn't done any for almost a week pre-injury either.
Last hard day: Yesterday.
Last rest day: Tuesday.

I was clearly not ready for back-to-back hard days! Felt as if I was running ankle-deep in treacle and had to take several walking breaks. Still, my 78 minutes was by no means my worst-ever time for the loop, although 13mins adrift of what I could do a mere four weeks ago. Ankle twinged a bit at times but never got any worse so I assume it can now be demoted from "injury" to "niggle". Heart and lungs were pathetic. Lot of work to do there.
10/11/2002 at 16:35
What: first x-country of the season, distance unknown, prob about 5 miles
Why: why not?
Last hard day: today
Last easy day: Sat
10/11/2002 at 16:44
AM - Swim 1500
PM - Run 11.4 miles
Why: Building up the long run by a mile a week
Last hard day: Today - legs were a bit heavy at the end
Last easy day: Friday

10/11/2002 at 17:07
Thanks MM - Snicks will be staying in for the next year! Tiredness kicked in and didn't run as well as I'd have liked. Had to stop and do up my laces five times - v frustrating. But loved all the mud and puddles etc... Great fun!
10/11/2002 at 17:36
what: a) 0915 in the rain - about 2½ miles round Thurstaston Common on school X-C session (yes they organise Sunday training sessions) - this done at a pace easy for Matthew (too easy I thought) - took ~29 mins

b) 1130 on a lovely sunny autumn morning (albeit very wet underfoot) 10 miles (car mileage suggests 9.9) from house to Caldy CC, one lap round the grounds, and back again. Done in 72:24 - coming back up Caldy Hill knackered me. 84 mins at Helsby in 10 weeks time still looks a very optimistic call.
Having said that - that's the longest continuous run (in terms of time) since the Wirral ½ Marathon in 1983.

why: Sunday at the moment is long (and lengthening) run day

last hard day: Tue
last rest day: Thu
