Evening all,

So life got a bit complicated, but had a little read back-

NZC - lovely win, even allowing for the disappointment of finding it was short later. Bravo!

Postie - great to see you around, or maybe it is me who hasn't been as regularly around as sometimes.

Alehouse, birkmyre, Paddy, really hope injuries subside.

Pammie - oh no, that's horrid. Shame they couldn't have got it right at the start.

40min - sounds like a nice long run on Sunday. I like long runs when you get somewhere!

MadameO - I'm with LMUH on this one. Slow, easy and comfortable, that's me!

Speaking of me - the dress rehearsal for the LAMM did not quite go as planned Saturday evening. We planned to start running in the mid to late afternoon, run for three hours, pitch camp, and then a short run out on Sunday morning. Mostly it was a kit check. As we neared Dartmoor the cloud lowered. As we started running, the visibility was perhaps 50 metres and a stiff wind in our faces made running impossible for me. We persevered for a couple of hours, then had a parley. We needed the experience navigating in the murk. We needed the experience of pitching tent in the gale, lighting the stoves, cooking and eating the dinners. We did not need to lose a night's sleep. If we took the decision immediately we could do all we needed to do and do the run out before the dark set in. The weather was promised only to get worse overnight, so the motion was unanimously adopted. It was, er, as well that we had the tent-pitching practice. Did you know that a light weight tent makes a very good kite? Our's is shaped like a standard cross kite, and flies pretty well. Son1's resembles a windsock. The moral of the story is peg it down quick. It took only an hour to pitch tent, cook dinner, eat dinner, strike tent pack and get going. We arrived back at the car without resorting to the head-torches.

Sunday was travelling, Monday was oh hades, am I far behind in what I should have complete or what, so today finally, in the evening, I made it out for a run. I liked the run. I started stiff and sluggish, struggling to stretch upright. Kept on doing different things, fast cadence, slow cadence, on forefoot, sideways, all sorts of things to keep my feet awake. Then at about 4 miles, nearly home, I could feel psoas let go. Standing upright was easy. I didn't have always to be looking at the ground, feet wanted to play. Yippeeee!

You win some, and you must count those v. carefully, because undoubtedly you lose some too (or else you are not trying hard enough).

Go carefully all, and please stop popping calves.
