Maybe someone good at lists could update the list of newbies and their mentors, or nebies that still require a mentor.

You're out of luck TB.  There's no-one on this forum who's good with lists.............

KK..cheers for the coffee and sound advice...I'm thinking more 'yes i can do this' rather than 'oh shit' at the minute...guess that will change! Be good if your other mentee was south west based as well...though guess its not vital. Think I read somewhere that Nurse ratchet is looking for mentor and is based this way....someone also posted that she likes cake and Chardonnay ... Winner in my book!

Cake - tick

Chardonnay - tick

Based in Scottish Borders.

Hope your mentoring is better than your geography kk

OK, if I haven't scared the brave souls off that have already PM'd me I am full up. Roll on 2013, the pair of them just need to decide what race now

06/07/2012 at 17:06

I now have 2 lined up and one who wants to just bounce technical stuff off me so that's me full as well

Are there any mentors with spaces left in the W midlands, leicetershire, warwickshire, areas?

Still room here.  I might be shite at doing them but I do have a gym instructors qualification

I have a mentor.

Who lives nowhere near me.

It will be a virtual mentorship!

Ok so I'm 38 year old female, married mum of 2 teenage boys; with no sporting backround. Lost 50lbs with Weight Watchers in the last 18 months so now at a good fighting weight.

Did road race bikes as a teenager but dodgy knee put paid to that. Have now thoroughly grown out of dodgy knee so no excuse there any more. Dad has taken on the new cycling fanatic in me and is upgrading my ancient road race bike every time I turn my back. I do aim to keep it, it's a very light aluminium frame that suits my short stature rather well. I can change tubs on it etc so I'm not too horrific on that front.

Started running Jan 2011 but had trouble with plantar fasciitis (sp?) and shin splints, loosing 40lbs cured that and this year completed couch to 5K, did some park runs averaging just over 30 mins, did 10K race 4 life in 62 mins and am now working my way through a half marathon plan.

I've joined my local Tri club and started their pool swimming sessions 2 weeks ago, verdict is that officially I can't swim, however 2 sessions in and things are improving a lot and I don't appear to be the slowest., quite.

Thinking of a half marathon in late Sept and a full on Nov 4 th.Entered first sprint tri on Sept 9th. Not certain about IM distance yet but ideally would like to. However feel I should achieve the above before I can commit properly.

Also I do better with not setting big goals as I turn them into huge things that take over my life. But I am a detemined bear and usually achieve what I start, I just do a lot better with an incremental approach. If that makes any sense?

Came across to all this after having to retire my 2nd horse, since keeping two pasture ornaments happy in retirment stops me affording a 3rd I needed something to do with my time and here I am.

I do suffer with nerves so need to over train and underachieve on the day if that makes sense.  But I also do better if I have to cowgirl up and get on with things myself rather than when I have someone I can panic at in person.

Any takers?
