How do you clean a cycle helmet?

22/08/2012 at 14:06

soap and water.  IF you can get the strap out then use some sort of destinker (Miltons or similar) but otherwise just a good scrub with soap and water.   Muc-off sell a helmet cleaner but I've never tried it although I have a sample in the garage

For me, that's rather like "how do you fold cycle shorts?"

Did you land head first in the mud?

I'm still not sure how to fold cycle shorts.

But the helmet issue is more pressing - they tend to get rather sweaty and stinky...

Wear a buff underneath your lid

The straps on mine look a bit grubby, but the helmet itself seems fine.  It doesn't smell, anyway!

I did get pigeon shit on it once, can't remember how I got it off though.

Bits of bone embedded in it come out with a sharp knife, blood comes off with a damp cloth.  Easy!
