One day I'll be able to make one of these. But I work on Saturdays so for that reason, I'm out.
Any more newbies out there thinking they would like to have a go? This is a great way and you don't even have to navigate! Any of the Northern flatriders around the area with a couple of hours to kill?
Lovely views!
I need to get a pass from Mr Steady as it is one of his rare Saturdays off work. I know the way back down from Box Hill, but am terrible at anything that goes up. Staples Lane has been a failure for me.Will let you know soon.
Is Staples Lane something to worry about? I've not done that one. I'm still going though. Come on Steady - get that pass organised.
Neither have I Soupy, but we have been down it. It's the one you can see Wembley Stadium from. I tried it on the SS Dustboy once. That was a laugh. Ground to a halt about a third of the way up. It's on both Olympic and Tour of Britain routes. Beautiful scenery.
Looking forward to meeting you Steady.
Maybe I can come just for the pleasant bit at the end.....coffee and cake! Depending on timings.
You know you want to dear!......Cheeseburgers and chips are great for hangovers.
I think I might be swimming that weekend but if I have got the dates wrong then I will be there
I'd rather go down Staples Lane if its the one I'm thinking of. Hope you can make it Saffers and Caz.
Depends on timings...I am trying not to have a hangover and ride with the tri club as tradition is a birthday ride!!! Usually done with them by 1pm and on past rides with Dustboy the burger comes later than this...sooooooo hoping to get there. I shall text to see timings on the day.
I have done nothing (quite literally) apart from put on flab since Outlaw so am fully expecting to be pushing a fair bit on the upflats
Tossing up between old road bike with compact or taking tri bars off the one with the triple........will probably end up walking either way as it's the engine that counts!!
Loving the dot Po.ds. Glad you are joining us.
I thank you to Ferret for offering your excellent tail-end Charlie skills again.
Staple's Lane is fine - not as anything like Coombe, Crocknorth or Ranmore.
In fact it is a good training hill to go up and down on. It is on the North side of the downs so is long and draggy rather than super steep.
Ive got this in my diary, looking forward to it
I have to check with she who must be obeyed and if its ok I may well make it along.
I haven't been to the surrey hills for a while
Lovely to see Dustboy compete at my tri club yearly event yesterday and I shall be stopping off for a burger after my club ride.
Yay, the more the merrier. Good to see Mr Saffers again as well. I was 10th in my age group!!! Trogs got 3rd! Can you turn the bloody rain off next time though please!
Any more? Roll up.
Meface, you in?
