HI Guys, so i'm going to be running VLM this year and a friend of mine has put together an incredible offer on a bike fit (road or TT) or a mechanics course....teaching you how to look after and service your own bike.

a BIke fit is the single most important thing i've ever spent money on as far as triathlon is concerned and Mike at bridgetown is the best in the business.

and if you have a decent bike you should know how to look after it...and the mechanics course is a revelation.

All of these are worth the money if your paying full price but at these prices (bearing in mind what mike is giving to my charity) they are an amazing opportunity.

Bridgetown cycles is based in tamworth just off j12 of the M6 so they are in the middle of the country and well worth the effort. any questions or comments either PM me or post on here....vouchers can be booked at http://www.btownbikes.com/

my charity page is http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AndybVLM

As well you know, the spam wombles get rid of all the shite that crops up with regards 'watch the NY Cowboys' posts
They do not get rid of random/or not sellers or posts or pass judgement in that particular remit

Andy, to help ... there is somewhere a 'sponsor me' thread with regards VLM or FLM as it prob was then
This would be appropriate on that thread I would think?

it was explained at the beginning.we tackle the obvious spamming from abroad.escorts , handbags, football games..............we do not  deal with any posts where people ask to sell tickets or other  items or things like this.....If you don't like homegrown spam then report it in the normal way......

To be fair KK ... we've been round this conversation on many a post

Serens answer covers it again

if you read the threads you posted on instead of skimming through you would have read the answer to your question a number of times............

There are plenty of people around, plenty of new people with the same questions and aspirations and some with new ones, there are old timers still around ...

Most of us here want the same for this community/forum/computer screen whatever it is, we need to go with the 'evolution' rather than fight it, look forwards and not backwards

Thats the best my foggy head can do at the moment

DK - its because people who buy TT bikes are bigger mugs than those with just road bikes

i didnt want to say it

The place that built my TT bike spent 3 hours measuring me before they built it and fitting it to me after it was built ..... I've never really understood the paying for fitting after you have bought it

i kind of agree Dave, i have messed with mine until i get it right(ish) and still make minor adjustments now. IM(worthless)O a bike fit is only as good as it is at the time it is done - if that makes sense. If i lose weight = i get lower, gain weight = raise bars. Aches and pains also make a difference to the ideal position.

Agree with that on principal, but let's face it... All the old timers have left. People now see seren as established (no offence seren but...). Maybe it's natural migration but we can't deny that everyone just left here within a very short period of time and there must be a reason for it.

not sure how the forums or you have been around..........I've been active since 2005...........so feel like an old timer.and must be compared to some.......

I see loads of new faces on the forums.....and haven't noticed a mass migration...........these forums are very active at the moment

Sorry we aren't all as educated as you with degrees and teaching qualifications......but this is a running forum not an IQ one......

I'm sure that those who matter can understand my poor attempts at English

Guys, leave it.

Really, these discussions no longer help. They make it worse.

Ignoring the debate.

I can confrim Bridgtown are a very nice and knowledgable lot and fitted my anceint road bike to me with the aid of some newer parts which they had in stock and didn't charge to fit either. I'm invited back for a free refit once I've done more miles in case anything need adjusting.

They're a good bunch and not just out to sell you a new bike.

Why have a fit for a bike you already have? Well I changed from toe clips to cleats which changed things somewhat, so seat height changed drastically and new handlebars and head set etc shortened the top distance for me,opened up my shoulders and stopped me locking my elbows and putting pressure on my wrists. Much more comfy now.

Oh and with new parts, shoes, etc. they suggested the cheapest options first which is a nice change!

I've had my bike for a good few years and cant reccommend a bike fit highly enough ... a mainentance course would be next on my list for sure!
