Saw this race... for those who think Embrunman is a bit soft?

Looks a little hardcore for me, but maybe it could tempt FB out of "retirement"!?

heard about it a few days ago but not for me - too far to go.

looks interesting for those who fancy a good challenge. and midges.....

Trying to out run the midges would be an incentive for a faster last leg I'd guess ?

The bike leg looks fun - but the talk of the last leg does sound fierce ! (and I'm crap at running offroad)

I like the sound of it and I'm tempted but for 2013 .

it will do well I reckon given it's location and supposed "toughness". the NE Scottish weather could also be an interesting side show!!

it's main problem next year is the date - clashes with IM France, week after Regensburg, week before Austria - so many will already have their June/July 2012 IM plans, and entries, in place already.

I think this now makes it the 9th UK IM distance race in the calendar - how many more can the UK take 'cos there's talk of 2 other new ones in 2013 (Portland and Ely).

Yea your right with the timing.

Time will tell how many more the UK can support, but if the organisers are happy to keep the number of competitors low I guess a few more could be added.

Besides having more events to have a crack at in the UK should keep the likes of me from retiring

"should keep the likes of me from retiring"

sod that - I'm retired. I'm taking up drinking beer........oh hang on....I do that already...

keeping numbers low and making it commercially viable is always a problem and I suspect all will not survive as people's money is being spread so thin. the big ones like IMUK, IMW, Henley will be fine but ones like the Big Woody would be at risk I think. Forestman attracts a hard core following as it's tough - that's why this one should do well.

it may be the 9th in the UK calendar but the only one in scotland so far...

(well, since the ?aberfeldy? one stopped running...)

I guess that will also work in it's favour.

It would be a kamikee missoin for me to do the whole thing possible with over stuff around that time but if anyone whats a relay if thats a option I'd we well up for the run bit. That part of the world looks gougous. Anyone know what the routes are?

no routes announced yet Cake although if you look at the thread for this in Tripetalk someone seems to have posted the bike route....whether that's accurate or not I have no idea

it will probably rank alongside The Brutal in Snowdonia for toughness

Looks fab eh?  WAAAAY out of my league, but wouldbe amazing to take part.  It is the guys from my local tri shop that are putting it on, or are heavily involved anyway, as a couple of them did the Norseman last yet and this year, and they have fab videos from it - the guy that owns the Tri Centre is a film maker too.  They do a fair few events (tri/cyclocross/runs too I think) so it'll be well set up.

They've done a few Norseman inspired spin classes too (other owner of tri centre is one of the spin instructors at the place I go to!), with the video in the background, it is fab.

So cool they're finally doing an iron distance event in Scotland.  Not sure i'll ever be up for it tho, lol

If the route goes near Applecross, your legs will be f******, but you'll not beat it for amazing scenery
