Mary Berry recipes always work. The Nigella Domestic Goddess book is good too.

This is the last cake I made. The figurines aren't edible though - the sugar paste versions fell apart, so I used clay and told people not to eat them

My New years resolution was to eat one of each of the cakes in ye local fabulous cake shoppe but fancy as they are, you cant beat a good muffin..........
