Lumpy Northern Sportif
Anyone else doing the Cyclone Challenge in the Northeast .. i know its out the way for most but thought i'd ask
its nice and 'challenging ...
A serious challenge for the more experienced cyclists or those who are very fit. The route is very hilly with 2374m (7789ft) of climbing. The route is very choppy with 8 significant climbs and the highest point is Troughend Common (340m), west of Otterburn in the Cheviot Hills. Riders competing this distance will have the additional challenge of achieving Gold, Silver or Bronze Standard for their ride
Did it last year, great event!
Although four punctures slowed me down a bit
Still thinking about giving it a go.
Unfortunately it clashes with one of the kids birthdays this year but I'll get it done one year Will as it's just round the corner from parent's house, a couple of my NE mates did it last year and are taking it on again this year.
I'm doing it.
Couldn't do it last year as had a torn calf muscle (done training on the course itself - calf went standing up out of the saddle on the Ryals)
Looking forward to it though this year.
Have done all bits of the course several times now - though not in one go - it's all manageable
Did the first half and some extra bits on Friday - 97 miles - lovely.
4 punctures gas-man?
I know! A sharp stone stuck in the rim tape. I found it the next day, schoolboy error
That was some weeks training WildWill, I'm assuming you were on holiday?
