£55 is bloody expensive for a distance somewhere between novice and sprint...

To do the BUPA GWR around the park is £20 - that's no closed roads, no rental of a 50m pool on a public holiday etc etc.

The £5 you can save by taking a race license which is a no brainer as it gives you insurance and legal cover (which I've used when hit by a car).

Its unlikely that this event will even break even and there's still doubt that it will go ahead due to numbers. This used to sell out years ago and was £45 at the time.
