I should have been in Lanzarote last week for a weeks warm weather training, but had to cancel it to attend a tribunal hearing with my ex wife. grrrr. Long story.

Going to a lake near Reading where I work tonight (currently 12.2 degrees) and off to Wales at the weekend to see the kids and will get in the sea near Porthcawl for a bit.

3 weeks to the start of the Deca. how time has flown by!

It meant I couldn't sleep........but I was up at 4:30 to travel to engerland for a ow swim. Met barley and supercas and we swam 5 laps. Which is about 4k. Then out for a short bike in the sun.

Nice to see you this morning Seren and Supercaz.

In other news, ive decided im not doing the double.  I spent 90 minutes on the bike this afternoon which would have decided if id do Hampshire Hilly Hundred tomorrow and ultimately the double.

Still getting discomfort cycling and when I finished it was a struggle to stand straight.  Contemplating cycling 100, 200+ miles and a double marathon in 4 weeks is just a non starter.  More important is that I have Ironman Coeur D'alene 24th June, which is really my A race.  I need to be fit for it more so than the double, I also need to concentrate on letting the muscle strain in my back fully recover, which is only going to happen if I lay of the long stuff.  Hopefully with 6 weeks till Coeur D'alene ill get myself sorted.

Having made the decision im quite relieved its been quite a  pressure/frustration this last 4 weeks struggling through.

I'll still be at AT for the double weekend to cheer you all on, cant wait

Oh Barley that is sad  but it sounds like the right decision.

Great news that you'll be there, we'll need all the support we can get.

I did a 7k swim today, it was in the pool with a pullbuoy so a bit of a cheat really, but I was very pleased. Now I just need to get myself in the OW.

Glad you all had a good swim

Barlos thats right pants, you have put so much work in this year.  I hope the rest of them go well for you

12/05/2012 at 18:16

Barlos - you have to make whatever decision is right for you in the long term and if IM Couer De Wotsit is your A-race then it is only right that you concentrate on that, get stronger, and whupp your IM as it will be one step closer to Kona

Real shame Barley but if it helps towards your A race then it has to be the right decision, see you for a beer or many at AT
