Good luck to everyone racing!  I'm doing the challenge distance at the Bath Triathlon weekend.

Good luck everyone, looks like it's going to be a busy weekend for the pirates in training.

Anyone would think we'd all just entered Outlaw or something

Well my training plan got binned before it got started.

In-Laws over from France and FIL has fallen and has cracked his hip, trip to A&E operated on yesterday around a week in hospital, so I will have to ferry MIL to Hosp at visiting time that are afternoon and evenings (she doesn't drive).  OH has to work in Derby till end of Nov and we're in Essex, I also work full time, thankfully only local.

One will be getting bum out of bed early mornings for a few weeks until he can move about a bit, don't think they'll be going home anytime soon.

Good luck to all racing this weekend - I have swam and biked and half a 1/2 mara on Sunday.

Tri club meeting last night was really good, very friendly and keen to encourage beginners.  Looks as if we'll have enough people to get it up and running.  Typically, I'm supposed to be working next week when they're having the first training session. Strongly suspect my back won't let me go back to work, but if I'm not fit for work I shouldn't really be at a tri coaching session instead .  Although I could claim it was physio .

Long bike today, planned on 70 miles but wasn't that fast so I chucked another 20 miles on the end, turned out to be my longest ride, wasn't that fast but felt fairly good. , done in 5 hours, hungry by the end of it.

Went to see the doctor earlier this week who told me to get more exercise , not really been keeping a record but ive probably averaged about 12 hours a week training for several months now. started keeping a proper record now that ive entered outlaw.

productive day today, watched outlaw on Channel 4 this morning then 2 hour run followed by 40 minutes run/walk with my wife, then lunch, then visit to bike shop and i'm now the owner of a new shiny bike at last . had a couple of short rides this evening just to get used to it. going further afield tomorrow.

I'm back. 4 days with very limited internet, quite traumatic. Hope your all well.

so, 4 days, 480 miles, bruised ass cheeks & a buggered up knee, but all in all The Great Barrow Cycling Challenge was a great event.

SD, that's an amazing effort, well done mate.

Great work SD

Spoons. You were remembered by a guy called Paul who did the marathons last year as well. Not sure how he manages it, he must have had at least 10 pints of lager every evening.

Knees swollen up like a balloon today, RICE going on, nicely laid up on the sofa for todays cycling world champs

Just had a quick whizz through the last 5 days posts.

Sorry to hear about others injuries, hope your taking it easy & grt mended quickly!

Well done on everyones training & those doing events this weekend hope you have a good one.

But quite disturbing news is FishyTank not signed up to an Ironman yet? It's destiny Gas, you know you were meant to be doing IMUK with Tim & me next August

I havnt taken one yet, but its a fairly standard Giant defy 5, nothing too fancy but its all mine.

went out for just over 2 hours on it this morning, no problems at all and loved it, finished feeling I could easily have done the same route again which i was pleased with as never ridden a road bike before.

Yay I did it first ever half marathon done in a provisional time of 2 hrs 28 mins.
Hilly for east Anglia but loved it especially from mile 8

Well dine SD hope the knee returns to normal size soon. I hope everyone else had a great weekend too.
