Errr no I can't sign up for anything yet... I'm currently awaiting news of a potential opportunity related to doing my first IM for the benefits of medical science and until I know whether or not I'm guinea pig number 235 I am unable to commit to an alternative at this point

Needless to say an IM is on the cards for 2013 regardless but which one and under what guide remains to be seen

Bbplod - I guess you were in an earlier wave, I thought I was the only pirate on course yesterday... I was "lucky" to be in the very last set before they decided it was too dangerous, I've now learnt they shortened the bike legs in later waves too! So I am especially pleased with both my time and having made it around in one piece

Hi all...I have never done a triathlon...or run a race before, but I want to do an ironman. Started running this Christmas after gaining weight and my first race, the Robin Hood half is next Sunday (very nervous as I haven't quite reached the distance in training yet...). I've started swimming lessons (as I couldn't do front crawl) and managed my first 25m of front crawl yesterday. I'm halfway through Ironholgs book - which brought me here... so - anyone else here from the east midlands, or doing the robin hood next weekend?

Welcome Splatfink.  IMUK is August 4th next year

Good luck on the half, don't worry about not hitting the distance in training, race atmos will get you through.

splatfink I'm in the Midlands and doing my first IM next year.

Sounds like you are perfectly suited to being a pirate!

Ironholgs book is dangerous - it's his fault I entered Outlaw!

Welcome Splat, don't worry to much about not doing the distance in training, a lot of training plans don't go the full distance in training. The occasion and knowing that you don't have to train the next day will give you the extra boost.

Good luck for the run

Welcome Splat. DTT & myself signed up for IMUK 2013 the other week, come join us, loads of time to train. Finks structured training commences 7th Jan.

Was in the same boat with you with FC untill a few months ago, then it just clicked. Although still very slow (just like my bike & running though)

Well I have at long last popped my triathlon cherry...did a sprint distance yesterday in the wind and rain and loved every minute.
Bit of a manic swim in a very small swimming pool but all good...note to self..don't yap so much in T1 as it cost me 5 mins!!
Loved it so much that I'm doing another next Sunday...have yet to tell OH!

50mile bike ride yesterday, 30 min wet run with the dog today and very cold swim at Pennington flash tonight. Swim was very cold, last session of the season. Decided to stop timing myself on the bike and run so I won't get fed up with slow times. Well done to all who raced at the weekend.
