Ankle surgery booked in for Nov 15th to:

1) Remove a floating bit of the Talus bone that’s insolently made its way into the joint

2) File down the bone spur that has grown from the part where the above mentioned bit of bone came from

Recovery time… ohhhhh about 6 – 8 weeks.

Morning All,

An hour speed session in the pool last night nearly killed me. Decided I'd have an easy day today, so out at 5.30am for a 10 mile run. Teaching from 9-5 solid and then a run home tonight.

I don't think I'll have any trouble sleeping.

Just back from my first session with the tri club, and I loved it  .

ID hope the surgery goes well you'll be back training in time for next season.

Nurse glad you had fun at the club session, hope you sleep well after.

I did another sufferfest session we did local hero. , that was hard work and my borrowed bike wasn't very comfy so I'm a bit John Wayne now.

Oh and it fell off the front block I managed not to fall off but I must learn to keep a stiller position ; I must wriggle far too much for that happen .

12 miles tomorrow.

Ggrrrrr !!   I shall blame you for the little to no sleep I had today with thanks to whichever gasboard was digging up my road for the most part of today, no number of pillows can disguise the noise of the machinery they were using

Ali - well done on the sufferfest. I just prop my front wheel on a yellow pages, so even if I wriggle the wheel doesn't come off. Yellow pages is not very thick though, so it does feel a little like going downhill but I am used to it now

SL - it is scary when you start seeing your extra weight in terms of the weight of a child, and then lift up your own child and realise just how much it is! Just think how speedy you will get when you lose the weight

Good work Tim, nice to see you back on track.

Did no cycling since last Sat due to 'the issue' but decided to do the Tri clubs confidence ride today as knee felt fine. I'm pleased to say, 32 miles done and no issues

Will take another week off cycling though just to be sure. Be all ready for the off road event on 28th then

Can someone tell me more about sufferfest ? I know what it is, but how fit do i need to be before jumping on board? And how to make a 2hr session work beyond rewind-replay?

And the competition: spinnervals being one i found

Today was loverly 85 km loop via Streatley Hill to Newbury and back. Ran out of energy at Thatcham, but was given a magic gel with some HTFU and a stern talking to (was going to get the train back). Rode back in to Reading with a smile. Legs FUBAR'd now though.

Next week I'll ensure I have some energy drink and gels at the ready, and won't do a track session Friday morning.

Gym session for me today, bike tomorrow... Have made the mistake of looking at vintage bike frames and started toying with the idea of building one, fortunately I don't know how to build a bike so hopefully the thought will pass AND there's the small matter of finding storage - also not simple!
