IM is really all about the bike, it's by far the biggest section of the race and cycling 112 miles is very very tough if you haven't put in the work beforehand. Fink doesn't put enough emphasis on it.

4 Mile run at lunch time, it's getting hard to fit runs in now with the dark mornings.

Feel much better for it though, I thought I'd love tapering but it's driving me nuts!

Off to run home soon, had a great off-road run at lunchtime in ankle deep mud. Loved it and got to scream obscenities as I ran through the woods. I'd had a sh*te morning and it was just what I needed.

Still not sleeping, still feeling bloody knackered, still made myself run 5 miles this afternoon - and unexpectedly really enjoyed it.  Slow but happy.

On to P90x week 2.  My wife might just be humoring me but she claims there is some definition already in my upper body.  She did insist on a couple before pics so we'll check those in a few weeks.  I have noticed that my output has gone up substantially in just a week.  Still only managing a few pull ups at a time but that beats the 1/2 I was averaging last week.

I also got my mountain bike out for the first time in a couple years yesterday.  I still prefer road biking but it was a nice change of pace.

nurse - hope you sleep

oh knee still sore so just doing bike in the gym and some weights, this is getting boring now. off to physio tomorrow - at least the cycling doesn't hurt, I would go mad if I wasn't doing any exercise at all

Evening all

Good, but not to long, training day for me today

LUNCH
- 50min run including 2 interval set of 3 x 30secs at 107% 5k pace with 1:10 easy recovery .. Rest of run was at over distance pace

PM
- 45 min easy spin with drills
- 35 min weights

Evening all. 3.5 mile run for me this evening. On & off road, not too boggy.

I'm following Fink competitive plan for IMUK next year, the amount of bike training looks fine to me. Its very easy to overtrain, as ive found out recently.
