Melds - that'll be because ITB usually stems from weak glutes/hip area which rowing is bound to strengthen

Morning all - well I'm off to Dublin this morning, but alas, I think actually running the marathon ain't gonna happen - ankle is still buggered after doing Windsor the other week. My Fizzy sessions and optimism that it would be ok by now didn't seem to paid off! But as I've booked and paid for everything, might as well go anyway - someone told me they sell Guinness in Dublin so I should be OK. Also meeting up with the Irish Pirate fleet on Sunday for dinner - so would be rude not to go!!

That's a bummer, Raf.  I'm sure you'll soldier on and struggle through a weekend in Dublin - you're a trooper.

PiC and I are cycling this morning, but I am being a big jessie.  It's coooooold and I want to stay in my pj's in front of the fire with a pot of coffee.
Any and all arse-kicking gratefully received

raf - have a great time in Dublin, a shame about the marathon, but that seems to be life sometimes.

Thanks Maths! Just back from a lovely bike ride.  Need to have a proper look at the comp. but it was 26-ish miles in 2-ish hours.
It was bloody freezing!
I had a wibble around mile 18 when my back and hip started to get really sore, so I had to have a wee word with myself - along the lines of, "Calm down, slow down, and relax woman" - and sure enough after another couple of miles it settled, and it feels fine.

Have a great weekend Raf, soldier on buddy!

Nurse well done excellent work, I've search my inbox and I don't seem to have a sleep report (drums fingers....)

Well I chipped ice of the car this morning, that's the first time I've had to do that

Anyway athlete testing this morning, I'm deffo not as fit as I was per summer (thats what happens when you lose your mojo) but.... I'm exactly what they're looking more middle of the road I won't know for sure until mid to late November but it pretty much looks like my first IM will be a very beautiful Spanish affair

Flipping cold out there today , I had to dig out the ear muffs this morning. I was going to go for a run after work but 5 hrs outside in the rain/sleet/ wind is enough to put anyone off! So nicely tucked up in bed watching tv... Any excuse!

Good work if you've been out today. I binned everything, not left the house

Grim thoughts about tomorrows off road event, hopefully weather not so bad.

Zombie Run done today. I completed the course but got infected! Was a great laugh and the Zombies had gone all out on the effects and some were very speedy. Don't think I've ever laughed so much on a run. The clown zombie freaked lots of people out. Thankfully not stumbles or strains so all set for next weekend. Even have my race pack now.

Half mara including Parkrun before breakfast, done all my marking!! Been finding how much distance running helps me with work - same principle applies - the running is hard, but I have the determination to keep up the pace, and so when I want to stop marking essays (believe me this is the most mind numbing activity in the world) I tell myself "you wouldn't stop running, so don't stop this". Was really tired this afternoon, but kept going until I finished.

I've struggled to concentrate on marking for years, and now running has provided the answer.

Beachy head done yesterday. 5:46. Absolutely brutal conditions with flutters of snow for a short while!

Got a friend round their first mara too so great day in all.

Had to walk 3 miles back to walk in with the OH who finished just in front of the sweeper. Amazing achievement.
