Well 10K race on Sunday followed by 33miles on bike followed by James Bond. Was truly worn out after that lot plus 2 swim sessions this week and hurrah, a pair of goggles that didn't leak. Makes such a difference. Can't imagine swimming for 2 hours

I'd be worn out after a date with Bond as well

Good training all.

Smashed out a 5 miler tonight at an average 8.5min/mile. super fast for me. More mile socks were great, thanks for the rec on them.

Long day tomorrow, work from 8.30am to 5pm then over to one of our call centres to take children in need calls till 2am Saturday morning.
So make sure you phone up with your donations tomorrow evening, you may get me on the other end of the phone

20 miles cycling about town today and then my very first tri club swim training. I liked the discipline of doing drills, but wanted to be hammered a bit harder, so its really inspired me to get out on my own and start working harder at drills .

Did my first 400m time trial as well, but lost count and did too many lengths, so that was a bit of a waste of time

Morning everyone. By the looks of things the surgery on my left ankle went all to plan. Three bits of bone were removed from the joint and the chap shaved away two pesky little spurs that were limiting the movement of the Talus bone.

The type of rehab depends on how aggressive I want to be. Too little and the ankle will go stiff on me and of course too much too soon risks undoing the good work from the operating table.

As perhaps could be expected I've opted for the aggressive route which yesterday saw me doing a range of ankle joint movements which then culminated in walking, albeit gingerly, without crutches. Now that was somewhat sore..... My attempt to scale a few stairs in the hospital physio area was comedy gold to the onlooking staff.

Anyway. I'm feeling super energised at the moment. I had expected a big fall in motivation post op but no... I've not felt this good about things, life and the goals I've set myself for many months.

The painkillers talking? Quite possibly.

All the best people.

ID - good to hear the op went well and you are recovering well, good luck with the rehab

ID, that's good to hear, be well.

Swimming this morning ... After a few lengths I still have to stop, feel like I've been running uphill -- pounding heart, etc.  Tried slowing down my stroke, altered by breathing (I find it OK breathing on one side or bi-laterally), but still wears me out.

Maybe I simply need to get more hours in the pool.

Good news ID, take it easy.

Hopefully it will get easier with practice Tim.

I'm off fell running for the first time in the morning with my mate who's doing Norseman next year. I asked what time and he said he'll let me know but "We'll be at the top of the fell before the sun comes up". So that'll be early then.

ID - good to hear, hope your back to full fitness soon.

Possibly - let's just see how it goes. Just on the local Bowland fells, but some of them are pretty hilly.

Do I really have to answer that ??

Aparently I need my headtorch, a camelbak and something to sustain me for 2-4 hours.
