More miles socks for anything less than 10miles and 1000 mile double skin socks for the long stuff.
My training today has been a marathon catch up of grey's anatomy, I must do some training tomorrow.

Evening all ... how many have been cross countrying today then ?

I have walked more miles this weekend than I have run in 2 months, it was very nice to have a change of pace (albeit not much difference!!)

I was planning on doing a trail run down the Gower today, but last night when I was checking the times I realised that the race was actually on Saturday and not Sunday..... Muppet . So a day watching rugby without drinking for no reason yesterday.

Been out for a 10 mile trail run on my own instead today, running behind waterfalls, great place to run, but tough.

Did my bog running yesterday Melds, nearly broke my bloody neck

Melds - XC today was fab. Beautiful day. Blue sky. 3 degrees. It rained all day yesterday so a proper mudfest. Up to my knees at one point. 7 mile race and didn't slip over once

having to work around sad family news.  managed my long run tonight. might scrape a long bike session tomorrow.

all depends on events at the hospital.

sgtlard - sorry to hear about your family news. Sometimes training has to stop for a few days when life takes over, don't feel bad if you don't get to train, your body will get stronger anyway with a few days rest. (((((((hugs))))))))

It puts everything in to perspective. Despite the fact we're all nutters with a heavily skewed sense of reality, the world doesn;t stop turning if you miss a few sessions. This is an important lesson to learn for future Ironmen (and women).

Spend the time with the family; you'll never get it back. I hope everything works out for the best.

Can some of the running veterans recommend some decent running socks please, no more than a tennner?

Thanks

More miles are great and got a few pairs. Something that works just as well on a short distance is if you get the cheap primart/Decathalon socks put some vasaline on the soals of your feel and then put to pairs of the socks on. For something like a marathon distance I do that anyway with more miles socks. and cuts down on blister's a lot. Won't conpleatly get rid of the problem but helps a lot. Whenever I've done a tri halfironman or above I've spend a extra minute in T1 and done the same before getting on the bike and probably save a bit of time on the run for it for being able to waddle.

I like the X-Socks compression socks. I've just worn a hole n the side of the foot bit on one pair

6mi XC league race yesterday. A huge attendance, something like 400+ participants. I can it at 103 - was hoping for sub 100. I didn't race this on elast year, but managed to gain 90 places and take off 6 minutes from 2010. Course was flat and muddy. Can't wait to see the results as both my running club and tri club are in the league. Plenty of healthy rivalry.

Spoons - sounds like a nice day for XC. Nice run BBT!

Southern Snail - out 1st Jan.

Sgt Lard - you'll still be able to run tomorrow, or the day after or the week after. You never get time back when it comes to loved ones. Take care.

Socks - More mile are good. I've run every ironman in my defeet pirate socks, they're actually cycling socks. 1000 mile double skin socks destroyed my feet with blisters. Falke, WigWam and decathlon socks are all good as well.

Nice xc-ing Mr Cat.

Socks - I'll put a vote in for more mile - twin skins for the distance stuff, I use Aldi socks for the normal stuff.
