Pontypol 10k done!  Around 46 minutes, I think (stupidly forgot my watch), and if that's confirmed then I'm a happy puppy.  

Wore Pirate colours for the first time and had a couple of 'go pirates!'  

Feeling good!  Esp as tomorrow is rest day, so tonight I have 3 bottles of fine ale lined up

Good stuff Tris!

Fink, Going Long, Swim Smooth etc etc all reccomened swimming drills are done while wearing fins.  I'm not really in a position to do so as my local pool has an out right ban on using them due to health and safety concerns.  In truth, the use of paddles is also frowned upon too.  

Was wondering if this is a similar picture across the pools we all use?

we use fins in  our club sessions, but I haven't tried using them in public sessions as I wouldn't want to whack anyone by mistake! The lanes get a bit busy sometimes. However, there is a session once a week where I am often alone, so was thinking of taking them along next time I go to that session because I can't see how they can object to that.

Fins are not allowed in any 'public' session either
I dont wear them cos they feck my achilles up 

1hr run before work and here I am until 2am again ....

Crap bike ride today. went out with SoupDragon the recce the Challenge Henley bike course; my legs were heavy and tired and not playing ball; it was fecking cold and I my sinuses produced industrial quantities of snot . still, we did about 25 miles.  still feeling a bit rough and tired, so will take it easy for a few days.

 

on the plus side - my dodgy foot can now cope with running for 30 mins which is fab

Thinking about it, not being able to use fins is for me probably a good thing.  I imagine using them would cause an overly pronounced flex in the ankle.  Something I imagine that's non too clever for someone 3 months after ankle surgery.

Fraggle, take heart .. there wont be many who had good bike rides today as it is soooo cold.  How was the bike course?

Agree with M...eldy, the chances of enjoying a bike ride today were slim. I rode 15 freezing miles to join my tri club Sunday group ride only to find them all inside spinning away on turbo trainers!  They had sent an email but I didn't check before I left. It was quite amusing but the ride back was very, very cold and with nobody to talk to either.

There will always be the bike rides that dont fit the pattern or the plan, dont beat yourselves up about them unless they become consistant and then that needs addressing

Did the second of the winter tri series today.  5K run, 12 mile bike, 400 yard swim.  Sliced off 3:11 from my prior PR.  Still need to work on run pacing.   Went out like a raped up and then held on the last half a mile.  I guess it's new to me as I've only began to work on speed as I've always been a trudger.  Probably still trudging along, just doing it faster!

started off my training with a cycle 8 miles to parkrun, parkrun, cycle back 8 miles, then 3k swim in afternoon followed by a 12mile run on Sunday with 30 mins on the turbo as a warmup, the run wasn't pretty as so cold

55 min outing on my mtb after work today - nice to enjoy a bit of mud for a change
