Crap bike ride today. went out with SoupDragon the recce the Challenge Henley bike course; my legs were heavy and tired and not playing ball; it was fecking cold and I my sinuses produced industrial quantities of snot . still, we did about 25 miles.  still feeling a bit rough and tired, so will take it easy for a few days.

on the plus side - my dodgy foot can now cope with running for 30 mins which is fab

Thinking about it, not being able to use fins is for me probably a good thing.  I imagine using them would cause an overly pronounced flex in the ankle.  Something I imagine that's non too clever for someone 3 months after ankle surgery.

Fraggle, take heart .. there wont be many who had good bike rides today as it is soooo cold.  How was the bike course?

Agree with M...eldy, the chances of enjoying a bike ride today were slim. I rode 15 freezing miles to join my tri club Sunday group ride only to find them all inside spinning away on turbo trainers!  They had sent an email but I didn't check before I left. It was quite amusing but the ride back was very, very cold and with nobody to talk to either.

There will always be the bike rides that dont fit the pattern or the plan, dont beat yourselves up about them unless they become consistant and then that needs addressing

Did the second of the winter tri series today.  5K run, 12 mile bike, 400 yard swim.  Sliced off 3:11 from my prior PR.  Still need to work on run pacing.   Went out like a raped up and then held on the last half a mile.  I guess it's new to me as I've only began to work on speed as I've always been a trudger.  Probably still trudging along, just doing it faster!

started off my training with a cycle 8 miles to parkrun, parkrun, cycle back 8 miles, then 3k swim in afternoon followed by a 12mile run on Sunday with 30 mins on the turbo as a warmup, the run wasn't pretty as so cold

55 min outing on my mtb after work today - nice to enjoy a bit of mud for a change

Good training, well done Tim.

What is it with clowns who turn up for a lane swimming session & twat about in the lanes. Winds me right up, lol, had some guy playing with his kid in a full 50m swim lane last night, throwing her up and down etc.

But that seems to be perfectly acceptable with the hitler youth, power tripping lifeguards, look out though if you turn up with a pair of training fins though.

Grrrrrrrrrrr, sorry rant over.

I've blogged a few thoughts about where I am with IM training ... http://www.runwalkcrawl.com/step-back/

" I still eat crappy food. I do eat good food, and quite a lot of it. But there are cakes, and biscuits, and crisps with my name on them"

Haha, we are peas in a pod mate, lol. I'm not cutting down on crap food though, ive quit smoking, not had a drink since new year. I need some pleasure

Have you tried mountain biking when the weather is really crud? You notice a big difference going back to a road bike after doing some decent MTB rides

Mountain biking is excellent for crap days

I managed a swim today and then ignored the gym and turbo session, was a tad tired and still have a night shift to get through so feel a little better for it

Still managed a sub 7 400m TT and the end of an hours swim tho

Meldy, great swimming, 7 minutes is a great time!

Swam yesterday (but not as fast as Meldy), short brick today - 45 min bike & 20 min run.

Pay day tomorrow so I'm going to treat myself to a foam roller.  Although I'm thinking 'treat' may not be the case.

run done for me, just 3 miles, and have also been to the physio who is *very* pleased with progress on my foot   still have to keep to short runs, but short run is better than no run in my book

kettlebells class later, and I'm moving up to heaver weights so won't be able to move tomorrow, which fortunately is a rest day

Good stuff, fraggle!

You take it easy with those weights Frags!

I am on a quick turnaround at work so very little sleep and back at a desk already ...
Looking forwards to the Tri show on Friday, may need to keep the bank cards locked away!
