sweetfeet........out of interest which of the finks plans are you following......
I have the brick session planned for today.........hoping for a break in the weather to get the bike done outside.....my back really can't cope with the turbo at the moment..
managed my swim yesterday and an hours run.......was running a different route and so enjoyed it......so hard to not run the same old routes when you have been running a few years........I ran whilst my son was coaching hockey.had an hour to waste and so thought that a run would be the thing........
Hi Seren. Competitive, until I run out of time/ability. Cheers.
i thiought it must be because of the 3k swim........I don't think i will ever get to the 3k in an hour.but hoping to get closer to 2.8k in the next month or two.......I have already decided that i can't go to 3 swim sessions a week though.........I have to play mind games to get me to 2 sessions........which i have done every week
Time is the killer. I'm really struggling where to put the third swim. It'll have to be at the weekend somewhere but i doubt it will get done every week.
Fortunately of the three disciplines swimming is my favourite so I will be inclined to find the time. The bike is my nemisis but so important...
Intermediate, except ankle injury has messed things up a bit - plus what was I doing thinking I'd have loads of time for training during half term?
Hadn't banked on two kids at home - haven't done any training this week yet ... grrrr
45mins turbo before work nearly skipped as tired. Son had to get to sch for 2AM this morning as off to Greece and although hubby took him I was still half awake at 1 when son got up and 2:30 when hubby got home
pathetic swim tonight as too tired and head was in the wrong place after some disturbing student news at sch. A yr9 student of mine is apparently so stressed she is seeing mental health dudes after trying to commit suicide
this week and next then 2 wks off (we do a 5 term year) and i can't wait. Will be able to train in day light and do full length swims without getting pool rage.
Hang in there EP.
Swim #6 for me tonight the first of the Build phase so a jump up to 3k. Completed in 59.30 with two bouts of calf cramp and feeling pretty knackered by the end. Hopefully I will adjust to the longer distance over the next few weeks. Still got to find a spot for the new third swim of the week which probably wont work on Friday evening (as per plan) so will need to look around the weekend for a slot...
sweetfet....good swimming there...........
Postie...why on the turbo ... have you still got snow there......
We got some more here but its all cleared now for rain..............started about 7am this morning just as i started my long run........wished i had worn trail shoes but there was no sign of snow until the first mile
Getting a little worried I only manage 1600metres in my 1 hour swims and the pool is weird so I can't acutally swim for longer than an hour at any point apart from weekends anyway.I've just checked out the other two local pools timetables and they're the same. I'm hoping adding the 3rd swim each week will help me improve and then I may have to take some time off or something to fit in longer swims or try and fit them in at the weekend alongside the longer bikes and runs.
i won't ever get to 3k.......
in the pass i have managed to get up to 2400m in an hour......and have always been safely through the swim
3hr turbo. Wow. I'm impressed.
Bike done runun done and swim swum, so feeling good if not tired. Week's a bit messed up. Never done all 3 on same day before and nearly didn't swim.
Lots of people here seem to have problems with swimming times and too many people etc. Seems I'm rather lucky. I've never been on a wed before but still very few people. In fact half way through the life guard came and told me I needed to leave as it was then oap's for the next hour, but I was the only one in my lane so we negotiated that I could stay. There were 3 people in lane next to me and about 5 in rest of the pool!
I think I have the rest of your people SS!!
I can just get to 2k in an hour and I'm concerned about endurance especially as my last OW swim inlcuded a panic attack so I need to get as strong as possible!
Couldn't get up today and when I did I felt crap thinking a cold was heading my way but I've improved as the day has gone on. Also had an iffy knee but that seems OK now too BUT I discovered why I had stopped wearing a pair of shoes as I now have a blister on the sole of my foot!
Chin up AliBear, I am in a similar situation. Monday and Thursday nights are limited to an hour. Monday is so busy I'm lucky to get 45 minutes in and Thursday I have the pool to myself, which means I'm getting the 2.5k in...just.
I don't see it changing until OW season starts in April which means the longer sessions will have to wait.
Yay, reason to celebrate. Tonight's brick session took me through the 1000km covered since training started back on Dec 10th. I know Fink is not about distance but time (55 hours logged to date), still chuffed though
Supposed to be a brick for me tonight, bike done fine, but my achillies was painful in the run, so the run ended up being 0.4 miles
Seren is it half term down your way this week or next? need to go down Cardiff to use go swimming on friday.
Turbo brick done whilst testing a new bra for Less bounce!
Yesterday's snow is history as it's raining now and looking at the puddles in some gardens I would say it's been steadly raining for a few hours.
I have a question for you guys ....
I'm currently doing all my bike on the turbo (won't go on the roads at 5AM for a start!) and I'm getting better I feel.
How does this transfer to the road? I know you have no weather issues on the turbo or hills so is it a bad thing to be on the turbo?
I wouldnt say it is a bad thing but I would suggest looking for a bit of balance.
Posives for Turbo include lower risk of accident/puncture, steady consistent pedalling & ability to do sets you struggle to do on the road due to junctions, traffic etc.
Benefits of actually getting out are a more race specific experience, improve bike handling skills, learn to cope with punctures etc.
I turbo during the week but try and get out into the real world at the weekend. It's got to stop raining, sleeting, snowing soon...
Looking at the weather forecast it looks like a great weekend to be out on the bike this weekend
