Dodgy marshals at Cotswold from what I remember

It is more or less flat on the bike (1 bump each lap) & decent run with some off-road bits.

If you want a really flat course (although it was hot on the run) then have a look at the Ely 1/2IM which took place this month

The swim will be an open water English Channel affair (which on a clear day offers a view of the French coastline).

Who for? The swimmers?

Yep.  A quick glance over (most likely) the right shoulder on the swim should give you a nice if a little distant view of the coast.

Apologies - I cant seem to edit my original post on the Guernsey Granite Man.  I hang my head in shame....

I had an email from the Guernsey Tri Club and the event will take place on Sunday 8th September with full details and entry from late Oct / early Nov.

I'd vote for the Cotswold 113, having just done the August one. I'll be there for the June one next year, can't do August as we're planning a London -Paris bike ride.

Where's the best place to go to find a calander of tri events for next year.

I'm wanting to do a 1/2 IM June/July time and a few shorter ones before hand.

Is Bala on next year and will the pirates be invading?

Hmm, our tri club were talking about this one (Gravelines) with a bit of excited chatter.
And Northern France is flatter than a country hedgehog.
And they have French food.

I still need to plan Oly and HIM before then though.

Blisters, check out my note on Gravelines on the Northern France thread. I'd say undulating. And a lump or two don't fuss me.

I'll mention Bustinskin Middle down Weymouth Portland way. He puts on a cracker of a race. And he's an evil bastard as well. Which is a compliment.

Blisters / Cake, completely agree about Buxton sprint, the cycle leg is fantastic. It was my first tri so holds fond memories and now has a fixed place on my race calender.

The DIY half in Macc souns great and by all accounts was well recieved last year and good numbers listed for this year. I believe there is a hread somewhere by Silent Assassin and his better half.

I'm entered in the Outlaw for 2013 so will be doing a half around the time it is recommended by the Don Fink plan, hopefully the Macc event will fit the bill.

It set a few people up brilliantly this year not just for the experience but the confidence it gave then as well. Just seen and realised where your biased on the outlaw thready. If you fancy some miles in next year I'd be well up for it as well.

I'm planning to do my first half iron distance next year and was thinking of the Fambridge Yacht Haven one. It's got to be flat, it's in Essex!!!

Any thoughts?

CCC I don't know about that part of the world, but it does sound like a good idea.

For me, Buxton has just disappeared as an option. Sister who lives there is moving to the States. Other mates who live an hour away are having marital difficulties. It's all gone mammaries vertical.

Oh dear Blisters, not good Maybe a half in the States then!

Cotswold 113 on 16th June, verified. That's the first day of the fishing season and they will be hungry. Just as soon as someone has cleared the ice off the lake.
