How do you lot manage it?

Your devious ways to persuade lurkers to sign up for races they shouldn't?

I read some posts, enjoy the answers and some how I am lulled into overconfidence... Ohh I would love to do an ironman... Maybe I should start with a 1/2 first... I mean I have done a few Sprint tris before and haven't drowned... You lot have some sneaky ways to get to folks.... Now I have 42weeks and a day to become a sleek hydro and aerodynamic athletic machine. Failing that I will be happy to chug round and not die!

It's a gift you'll be fine - if I can do a HIM feeling like a dogs breakfast anyone can!

Kenny Craig : Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around the eyes, look into my eyes. You're under!

It's 41 weeks and a day isn't it?!?

I've been suckered in too. Will be posting in the cr@p swimmers thread as soon as I get my breath back from last night's lesson (2 lengths without stopping is almost 1.2 miles by my calculations )

I'm pretty sure Robin Hood never had to swim up and down a rowing lake!

Arrrrhhhhh I have lost a week of training already!

Which one have you both signed up for.  I am slowly getting suckered in.  Did 1/2 this year, vowed never again immediately afterwards, but already want to do another and 'thinking' of a full too.  Must have lost my marbles.

42 weeks ? Probably just enough time to get some much sought after Pirate race kit - keep an eye out on the thread.

Welcome onboard.

Half Outlaw. Sounds easy compared to the full one but that's like saying a Porsche is cheap compared to a Ferrari. I'm more of a X reg Ford Focus with a funny noise coming from the engine compartment

Ah right.  I have a sneaky feeling that is already full as well, so well done on getting in.  I am so tempted with a full distance, beginner friendly Ironman though.  Might be Cotswolds 226.  I did Marlow this year - hardest thing I've done in my life.  Had to dig deep and have a few words with myself several times, in order not to give up.  Felt like selling my wetsuit, bike and tri suit immediately afterwards, but the next day I was already analysing the race and knew what I had to work on and do for my next one (ha ha ha).

Good luck with the Outlaw Half.  It must be good as it's so popular.  Bet it will be amazing.

I think it's the free beer , dancing girls and having to pleasure Barlos..... Just such an irresistible combination

Its the pictures of the gorgeous pirate ladies hugging and kissing you at the finish that gets you in
