IM Bolton

Doesn't appear to be well-regarded/supported by Pirates??

I'm looking at which event to enter in 2014.  Whichever I choose will be my cherry-popping IM distance event.  If all goes well, then I'll hopefully attend IM Austria 2015, as it sounds from other threads like this'll be the event of choice.

Top of my list at the moment for 2014 is IM Bolton (assuming it is held there next year); the main reason being convenience as it is right on my doorstep.

From what I can see though, it seems that this particular event is seldom discussed on the forum by Pirates.  I just wondered if there's any particular reason for this?

I seem to recall reading that there may have been some kind of dispute with the organisers many years ago, so perhaps this still has something to do with it.

IM Wales seems reasonably well-supported, so it's not like it's a complete M-Dot boycott.

Anyway, if anyone has any experience of Bolton, I'd be interested in hearing your views.

Ah - it's generally referred to as IMUK I see, for which a number of support threads already exist.

Ignore me - thread closed.

Certain pirates had issues with the previous organisers including legal threats/banning
I did 2 sherbornes and the first Bolton and they never put right any of the organisational errors to be fair the weather played a part in the Bolton foopar that said all in all i enjoyed all the races and thought Blton was deffo better than Sherborne with a realy nice bike course i am sure with new organisation And a few years under its belt Bolton is a great race BUT IM Wales is feckin oarsum

Thats good to hear. Thanks for that RBM.

Hope it stays in Bolton for at least one more year, as it would be nice to be able to practically stroll down to the start line from my doorstep.

Once I have the first under my belt (he says, crossing fingers), I will feel more confident about considering an overseas IM such as Austria etc.
