It's probably about this point in the thread that someone posts the following, so I will, if I may

IM virgins checklist

Anyone can do an Ironman if they train.
If you don't train, you will fail.
If you do train, you may still fail; there are no guarantees.
Becoming an Ironman is a top 3 life experience.

There's a huge wealth of experience of training for an Ironman on this forum; seek opinions, ask advice, then do what works for you.

If your swimming is rubbish, get some 1-2-1 lessons now...yes, now.
