I'm training in the flatlands of Suffolk.  The wind yesterday provided a good test and after 66 miles I was completely knackered.

I used to think I was good at biking but IMA and my hope of improving on times set in Florida (2011) and Outlaw (2012) is becoming and increasingly daunting prospect.

I think there might be wibbles in the air this week.  I've been panicking at the lack of training over the last few weeks and the realisation there is just 14 weeks to go. 

But, at the same time, 14 weeks is still enough to turn stuff around so fingers crossed.

Approximately 2,317 hours (96 days) or roughly the same amount of time it'll take some of us to cover the 140.6 miles.

Hey Trogs - foot still in bad shape. The upside is it hasn't stopped me from cycling. Having withdrawn from VLM, it might help me get my cycling legs back a bit quicker.

Annoyingly physio non-committal with diagnosis and therefore treatment, so it's somewhat of a fingers-crossed kinda situation.

Hope everyone is getting on with training OK. I've been digging deep recently in an effort to rediscover my bike legs, at the neglect of swimming and running (later due to foot injury).

Mate, also entered into IMA, asked today whether I knew total ascent on bike. Most route mapping websites are notoriously bad at accurately measuring total climbing. I wondered if anyone knew the genuine total ascent over the whole course?

Hiya Robbie. Been doing a reasonable amount of cycling, made it up to the dizzy distance of 3.5miles running and haven't swum for about a month - though I've bought a new wetsuit and am considering visitng a lake tomorrow morning.


Even the official website doesn't seem to be sure of the ascent. Course description says 1680m but the ''virtual' route map says 1430m

My wetsuit is currently with Snugg for resizing. Bloody hope I get to use it in Klagenfurt. And (since we're asking) weather isn't as monumentally hot as it has been in years gone by.

I read last year was OK but 2011 & 12 were absolute scorchers.

Wide awake after slightly bracing OW swim! Actually wasn't too bad after the intially shock on entry. Took it steady, partly cos I've not swum at all for about a month, partly cos of the temperature.

Don't think I'm that bothered about water temperature - though I'd prefer a wetsuit swim. However, I'd like the daytime temperature on race day not to exceed about 25C with low humidity. Scorching will definitely not be welcome.

Following several weeks avoiding running with a "dodgy" (as technically diagnosed) foot, I managed last week a 3, 5 & 6 mile runs without immediate issue.

Planned 13 miler on Monday dodged because of "creaky" Achilles.  Two days of rest.  It's now back on the cards, this evening.

Make or break (hopefully not for Achilles) but for my run-training prospects.

If anyone's following Fink, are we now supposed to have entered “peak” phase of training?!

I would have thought so PRW, 10 week base, 10 week build and 7 week peak before 3 week taper?  With 10 weeks to go (gulp) I know coming into May we have a decent increase in mileage
