As some of you know I had planned a rest year for 2013 but when I was told it's Lanza for 2013 I thought I might go for another year before having a rest from the long stuff.  Having had a very tough time at work whilst training for Outlaw, I thought I'd decide after Outlaw what I wanted to do.  Unfortunately for me (and luckily for you) I decided that I really don't want to do another IM next year, not even Lanza, I need to go not quite so long and focus on some other things for a year.  I'm not retiring from IM, just having a year off.  So, for those reasons, I am out.

I have just signed up for IM Lanzarote 2013. I did it in 2011 as my wife gave me a one event pass as it was something I wanted to do before I turned 40. As with everyone, I loved it and wanted to enter 2011 straight away afterwards but she said "no". After a night out with friends talking about IM I went home and registered. Haven't got approval from my wife yet (havent told her)...any ideas how I let her know that I will not be able to spend any time with her in the evening 6 months before, no more and partying and that the weekends will now be spent training rather than playing!!! Or should I just cancel it and forfeit 25% of the fee I paid . No comments about "who wears the trousers". Clearly she does!

Haha, I was trying too Melds, I reckon Podro could be convinced fairly easily too I can't wait to go on another overseas sailing, slightly more glamorous than Nottingham (even though I had a lovely time)...and here I am wishing my life away again!

I think Flat Footed is a strong candidate .. his OH , albeit somewhat touched by the alchohol fairy at the time .. did give him the green light for this

lanza is a lot less shit than Nottingham and its always good to see pissed people tottering around in high heels and tiny skirts when you are walking down to the swim start

Listen you lot - I wobble about on my Hybrid bike at 14-15mph max, I plod at the slowest of slow plodders and I've never swum in proper water (25m pools don't count at this level)

so why oh why am I thinking ......"hmmmmmmm" ?

it's you bliddy mad lot that's what it is, all so upbeat after your sterling performance at the weekend, and you've already planned next year, in the sunshine to boot!
