Ironman Lanzarote 2013 (3rd weekend in May?)

I was half way through booking my flight for this today and un-checking all the unnecessary boxes when the insurance one got me thinking.  They were offering a £12 single trip deal which actually isn't too bad for normal circumstances ... however, an expensive bike and a daft endurance race weren't specified as covered in the small print so it got me thinking, what have people who've done these abroad races before done about insurance ?

Personally I manage with an annual multi trip insurance (will need to renew mine).  I dont think it includes 'dangerous' sports, and even with the 'premium' policy I normally get the insurance wouldnt cover the cost of my tri bike and all the associated kit.

Ive never investigated the cost of 'dangerous sports' cover and/or looked at more specific policies that would cover all my kit but being risk adverse I take a chance on it.

I think the BTA offer a level of insurance included in membership (though not sure if that includes overseas events), they may also have links to insurers on their website?

There may have been threads on this topic before, I know ive seen them about bike insurance, ill have a look.

All the Nation tri memberships (England, Scotland, and even Wales)  do offer international personal injury insurance. Triarthlon Scotland is 15 quid cheaper than the other two ??????

For international marathons I've always used Global Travel Insurance which does cover you for 'extreme' sports. I made a claim once and after much arguing and throwing my toys around they did eventually pay!

Probably realised they were dealing with a posh git from Upper Wokingham or downtown Finchampstead or wherever you were claiming your house to be that week

Most of the group will wish to stay:

Thursday 16th May to Tuesday 21st May (5 nights)

Some others are looking at Tuesday 14th May to Tuesday 21st may (7 nights)

We may be looking for a mix of maybe 10 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, could you let me know the availability please and approx cost as follows:

I am intending Tuesday to Thursday as well but will go with the majority for ease as I can stay with a friend at other times

I would say once you go through the booking process it shows the availability and it seems to be ok, what it doesnt say tho is how many they have .. lets hope they get back to you soon !
