I had decided yes before doing it, and now I'm not so sure, but I can't work out why. Tempted by a teeny silver mdot pendant though.

I have a swimmer/biker/runner logo on my ankle, that's good enough for me. Besides, I don't think the Mdot is very attractive really.

I think I'll just follow you Ditchy (and Meldy) and stick a dot after the "M" in my name

Before I did IMA I was planning on getting one but then life interfered and I didn't get round to it.  Now I'm quite glad I didn't although I'm still tempted by a swim/bike/run logo on my ankle, like IW.

I won't be getting one - but if I do another ironman and do well I might be tempted......... the jewellery is also nice!

I did mine after my second and after I had comitted to my third.

I really like it and it mostly brings me good comments and has started many conversations in surprising situations.

Warning.

People should be careful about having tattoos.

There are side effects.  You might find it brings out previously hidden urges regarding cyclists:
what tattoes do to some people.

I saw a bloke at the airport with an 'anklet' of Ironman logos around his lower leg. Without looking too hard, I'd say he had about 5. Presumably he'd done 5 IMs. This was the Friday before the race and he had a bike box.

As he was obviously competing and his leg was full, I don't know where he was starting the next set. I must say, any thought of an IM tattoo was wiped away after seeing his design.

I'm undecided as to whether I would get one, think if I could find a design I liked then probably would get one somewhere discreet.

can I just add, if I were to do an IM, I would have a massive M. right across my bleeding face.

I think that tells you more about my ability to do an IM than my opinion on tattoos

At IMCH I saw a guy with one m. on his right ankle, the left ankle had an m. that was oulined with drops of red falling into it and he had another full m.d on his shoulder. Huh>?>

I did my IM with a group of people who all got the tattoo, I didn't because;

1: I didn't think my performance justified it,

2: I don't want any tattoos.

Anybody had "powered by ewz " tattooed?

Or perhaps a 'hop hop hop' logo?

If so, where?

I was going to get one after Austria in the heat of the moment but the tattoists was shut, then I was going to get a pirate mdot one after Switzerland. A fter qualifying for Hawaii I thought I would get one related to that race, but then intending to do deca it means I would end up looking like one of those old fashioned suitcases with destination stickers all over it. Also I did MDS prior to that and although I didn't want to commemorate the pain with a tattoo it was another achievement of equal importance so the precedent was set then.

I've nothing against them but the moment has passed for me I think, and the IUTA logo is not very fetching so I don't think I will get one any time soon

gah I am so easily swayed!!!

Just when I think I'm gonna get one, I read Monique's post and think 'errr, maybe not!'

Too tired today to go get one!
