The Long Course Weekend looks good, there's so much on that weekend, Magnificat Sportive in Newbury & the event I'm doing in prep for IMW the Maximuscle Marlow 1/2 Iron Distance race which I'm paid up and entered for.

So plan A it is then a long weekend in May & a Saturday in July.

Just a word to the wise, the run course for the long course weekend isn't the same as the IM run course.  It's an out and back to Pembroke- very scenic but undulating (and with some really nasty ascents in the second half)- finish in the centre of Tenby is grand.

Thumbs up on LCW from me, whatever your IM event. The only downside was camping in really bad weather. If I did it again I would upgrade the accommodation.

I sure will, I'll post up here see if we can get a few together to go and check out the route.  Incidentally I was looking at the IMUK bike route which is only about 200m less climb that IMW, I don't see people making such a big deal of the IMUK bike route and yet other forums there seems to be a lot of noise about it being too tough for an Ironman event & even some suggesting it was not a fair test.  I know the weather is a big factor but really?  Not a fair test?

the climbs in wales are a bugger because the descents are too technical for me so you can't get a fast pace to make up for the slower uphills..........

Seren's right
Every downhill has 2 90 degree corner at the bottom.... So you have to slow right down, then climb up the next hill from virtually zero.

I did IMRegensburg in the rain in 5:30
I did IMWales bike in 6:30
I did IMLanza bike in 6:00

Hope that puts it into perspective....

Just thought I would say hi.  I am signed up for IM Wales after transferring from IM Switzerland.  I am from/live in UK and done the LCW last year and watched my other half complete IMW this year so it's given me the bug!
