KKat - I couldn't swim a length of FC this time last year. In fact I couldn't swim a length until about February of this year. In Austria I started a minute after everyone else and let them get on with it. I bumped into one person and the canoes on either side of the course but made it home and I am the slowest swimming pirate on the planet!

I hate swimming but I went with the plan to finish just within the cut off of 2:20 and ended up finishing in 1:47. Still slow but I was so chuffed cos I knew that the worst bit (for me) was over.

Get a swim coach, sort out technique (I've never managed to do that) and the distance will come.

Jags, that makes me feel better, good for you btw. I know I can swim distance but just so slowly.....

I'm now in the process of emailing local bike shops to ask about the service they provide...

Jaggy - plenty of pirate swimmers slower than you! BtS took 1.07 to do half that distance at the Vit. and yes to a fife ride - but possibly not till after florida - it's all 4-5 hour ride/2 hour run bricks at the moment.

Good luck KK. I must admit I nearly entered an Ironman myself earlier this year - financial implications would however have been too much for me just now. Got one earmarked for 2010 or 2011!! - should I start training now

Just a little helpful info for those who don't know KK. I'm expecting her to pull out a Monique level performance at IMNice, so I've no doubt she'll get round. She'd a quick and fit Kitten.
