Is this a mad way to start?

Yodabunny owner returns with a very eclectic bundle of presents for us... That's Amsterdam for you!

I kept the bunny alive, is there no end to my talents?

(Rhetorical question)

So tired... but as soon as I walk out of our completely air conditioned building and hit the fresh air, I revive.

I need to run and had a fast 8 hilly miles with Cole in the dark after work. I'm supposed to have a 10k on Sat. I really don't know if I'll run it or not, my intrinsic love of running is completely satiated by running with Cole in the middle of the beautiful Devon countryside at any time we choose, for any distance we choose. I never follow a schedule or training plan.

I don't like races or racing, however if I can win then I like that, (look at the shallowness of a bit of bling and recognition). I must also say that I do like the social side of races, but not the actual race thing.

Also, and I've said this before... for me any traditional recognition of 'achievement' is very fleeting (and this is well recognised in sports psychology as the blues after a big event, I just take it a bit further in my own psychological make up).

So if I've done an IM or double IM; that's fine and good but is that really important and also could I do it tomorrow? Maybe I'm harsh on myself or have lost perspective but, it's what you can do now that should shape your psyche and keep you keen, than what you did and is now a ghost?

Pass. But I'm wittering on as an above average average Joe; can you imagine the psychological conversations elite athletes must have with themselves about this stuff?

Also, that transpires equally to my best 10k, half time etc...

I've always made a big point of sticking up for the short fast stuff. It hurts as much as long distance if you turn yourself inside out. I've never subscribed to the long distance snobbery that seems to permeate here.

But, it's all good and after, what, 4 years of this thread... I'm probably very inconsistant dependent on mood.

Really? You've never mentioned...

Thinking this through, is this viewpoint because you *can* turn yourself inside out easily whilst racing shorter distances, whereas one blows up at longer distances with the same strategy?

Is it a (LD) fatigue vs (SD) fcuked?

Yeah, I'm a bit stuck on that record. I guess I have things in my head until I feel I've resolved whatever dilemma or puzzle is keeping them there. My filing system aint great.

Um, to you question, it's too early in the morning, I shall think about it when my brain wakes up though. Tea to saturate the cells.

And I'll add, that puzzle might not be anything to do with what I'm harping on about, I just don't know that.

Oh and you can never have too many chocolate advent calendars in the house. Fact.

So, in the girls school christmas play (E has lead role), Harry Hill and Jess Ennis feature (yeah, it just got updated by gazillions of years, deal with it).

J's friend O is playing Harry Hill, he just happens to be Harry Hill's nephew. Harry's brother lives on the neighbouring farm to ours.

Shameless plug for a mate.

Namedropping over. I guess someone will report me *rolls eyes, removes them, juggles and bows low*

I'm supposed to have a 10k race on Sat, I don't know if I can be arsed.

Actually I can't be arsed, we've just decided to turn Saturday over to seeing D's sister and hubby in their new home. They moved today from Cornwall to 20 mins down the road.

Well hey ho... There might be something in 'Run Less Run Faster'. I've been only able to run about 3 times a week due to stuff and stuff and stuffed stuff; but I did 11 miles with Cole tonight and felt so strong.

It was a cathartic run too, I find that if I just take myself out with him and run off everything that has pissed me off since the last run; we come back with halo's intact.

I've decided that 3.10 is a realistic aim for Londinium mara next year.

Yes, I DO have a halo, bought it online from some dodgy site though and it sparks on and off like the proverbial red light bulb. But it's there right, and that's all that counts?

You can buy drugs off prescription so don't judge me too harshly.

3.10 is an awesome aim. Good luck.

I was thinking of your hate of turbos earlier and trying to understand why I am a fan. My only conclusion was time efficency and head space.

I'm probably in a minority and am jealous of anyone who actually can enjoy it because it's comfort cycling, no bad weather, complete control of your training and you can watch a movie... I even ate a roast dinner on one.

However I think because I don't have an intrinsic love of cycling (it's good, don't get me wrong, put I'm not passionate about it like I am running), that I need more to keep me alert/interested. That 'more' is pitting my wits against the weather and topography.

And I only mean comfort in surroundings, not physical effort btw. Everything hurts if you push it.

Muffin, what do you mean about 'head space'? That you can just turn your legs over and not have to worry; so your brain starts evaluating the other stuff in your day to day life... Like I do with running.

Actually that was a lie to make myself less spiky and more lovable. I'm not jealous, I just don't like them and won't waste any time on them, ditto dreadmills.
