TC got one for £300 from edinburgh co-op, and he whooped the ass of everybody else at IM Switzerland. of course the train ticket to edinburgh adds a bit to the price

KK I got my bike on ebay. Was very lucky to find one the right size etc but only paid £350 for Giant OCR3 which had only been used one season. Looked brand new. And I love it

BB I will probably put it on the credit card a bit nearer the closing date (my Christmas pressie to myself!) And then will let OH sort out paying for the rest?!! lol

I have only done one Sprint, one Olympic and wont have done a half at all if I do go for it.

you need to get some mass start open water tri experience first. people often freak the first time. but there's always a trip to the bala half(ish) ironman in May which is good experience

I will bike hunt as soon as this plaster is off. I just hope my ligaments aren't too bad...

KK - have just boinged the accomodation thread for you - just flights to go now and you're there!

Excellent decision to join in, I did last year from nothing at all previously in the tri world, although without rib and ankle problems but it is doable, enjoy it and welcome to the madness

Good luck with the leg KK. I am down to one crutch now but my ankle is still really painful. So I am hoping there is no ligament damage too. Got hospital appt on Friday so will know more then.

But with a bit of luck I will still be able to swim (my very very very weakest discipline) so wont lose too much fitness while I wait to mend properly

What did you do to yours Rio?

I'm hoping my plaster will come off on Oct 2nd and then physio....

A doctor told me yesterday that he thought it would take months to get back to normal, but I don't think it will be that long, I'm quite good at bouncing back from injury..

I just fell off the edge of a path I was running on!!! Not concentrating and chatting to the ladies I was supposed to be training!!!

The doc said he was amazed it wasnt broken. But I am now worried that the ligaments are damaged. Its the first time I have ever been injured (properly - having to take more than a week off training) and it is driving me mad! I too bounce back quickly so am hoping I will be back on my feet soon.
