Heard yesterday that one of our club's best young triathletes won the German Junior Champs last weekend and has been nominated for the Worlds in Japan.

She actually didn't come first overall though, she was beaten into 2nd by a young British girl, Vicky Holland - a name to watch out for in the future?

I think she'd be well kicking my behind already to be honest IW.

I'll try and remember her name.

Our Leonie's times were

lake swim (no wetsuits)750m - 10:39
20km bike 32:59
5km run 19:28
Total 1.03:06

And Vicky beat her.

yikes. Whether I hear of her or not, I really hope I don't see her in any race I turn up for. Talk about demoralising!

I was thinking 10:39 for the swim wasn't all that fast. Then I realised you weren't talking about a 400m event...

loads of excellent young Brit tristars coming up through the juniors........inclduing Vicky Holland.....look out for:

Will Clarke, Ollie Freeman, Todd Leckie amongst others.......

Ollie and Todd are both local lads to me - Todd's old man is an old drinking buddy of mine and the most unlikley looking father of a top class athlete you're ever likely to meet!!

I went out for aride with a clubmate of Will Clarke the otehr day - I believe he has only recently really started tri.

Which one wants to compete on the track and in thetri in the Olympics?

Leonie got a head start - her mum's a top swim coach. Younger brother's started winning stuff too.

I'd also keep an eye out for Fraser Cartmell and his young brother Blair.

Fraser was 6th in the London Triathlon Elite race, and he must only be about 22 now. Blair is a year or two younger, and doing pretty well too.
