while perusing the names on the outlaw 2012 list, a couple of names appeared that I had not heard of before, but the old timers welcomed them back with warm comments / open arms

who were these pirates...? I needed a history lesson

so I did a little digging and came up with the http://www.pirateshipoffools.co.uk/?p=1572 pirate roll of honour!

I am sure I have missed off a lot of events, so please , if you want, add any missed ones here and I'll update the website.

sorry for the formatting

There was IMCH in 2009 mate. And I was also in IM France in 2008, and for the record I beat Garr

A couple have done Kona, but I'm not too sure of the years.  I'll let others more knowing than me fill in the gaps.

IMNZ 2009 - Trogs, Aandersnog, Jaggy, Ally Bally Bee

There were also several relays teams at Roth and Outlaw last year - do they count too?

IMCH 2009 ... one of the biggest outing is missing

I was actually thinking about this (sort of) on my run yesterday. Well more specifically I was thinking that there are 2 distinct different ways people approach this.

They come, spend a lot of time on the forum prior to their IM and then disappear, or they become serial IM participants and forumers.

(I do realise that disappearing from the forum doesn't necessarily mean they retire from tri, but I think a lot of them do).

Not a criticism btw, just an observation.

KK - yup I agree.  Some names just disappear, others just keep on rolling.....

And then there are people who do one IM and loiter around in the vague hope that one day they'll have the time to do another but in reality that's not going to happen until their kid is old enough to come training with them.... <sigh >

I watched one of the Outlaw videos at the weekend and remembered the thrill of doing IM.  For a few minutes I was thinking how I could manage the training given my current family situation.  How much running can I do with a buggy?  How far can I ride with a child seat on the back?

Surely it could be considered resistance training. Just think how much easier it would feel cycling & running come race day!

Running, esp hills with my baby jogger is the hardest part of my running training MW...give it a go

I am planning to run with Little Miss W, once she's big enough to sit in the running buggy.  I'll be running people over in the park

It does get easier as they get older... promise!
