There was a far few there. I managed to vaseline up my groan area just before the start and then looked up to see the lord mayor staring at me.

FFerret - Good stuff. Nice to meet you - how did the marathon go? Enjoy it? I got a bit mentally lost (no surprises there!) in the Sefton Park area... but enjoyed it.

I spotted a pirate running the Abingdon marathon yesterday, I was marshalling and gave him a holler.

I spotted too. I was the lady with the jelly babies and gnomes in my garden near the marina who made a slightly farmer type pirate cheer!

Well done! Hope you enjoyed my home town race.

BB - thanks for the cheering .. i do really enjoy abingdon marathon it keeps me coming back every year.. any chance you doing it your self next year?

18/10/2011 at 14:26

Possibly, still thinking on what next year will bring... if I manage to pull off doing the Outlaw I'll prob wind down and take a break/regain a life before my next marathon... we'll see thou...

BB both me and Steve did Abingdon last year after Outlaw and it was for me at least slightly taxing (not for steve mind he's a machine, as well as being a very nice bloke). Was well worth doing through even without it being a good marathon just for the kick up the bum it gave.

If you've got the cash I'd enter it even if your not sure you want to do it. it will fill up and then the worst thing is you've swapped a place with someone. Your going to find after you've done the Ironman your motivation might dip for a time and the target off a new race could be very useful.

*mental note to self: pirates = bad influence *

Cake - will prob enter, I've supported my towns race with jelly babies for 5 years. I've done 4 marathons, just not one within 100 miles of where I live! Plus I run the route of the marathon all the time (inc the smelly sewage works - that's just a yummy smell in the summer evenings ).

I got home from work on Monday for my other half to say
"Oh, I almost bumped into a pirate on the way to work this morning, he looked like a big budgie on a bike!"

Cake?  Was that you??  Or is there another Pirate in the city?
