Was there any research done on a venue for the Pirate Summer Social?  Or is anyone free this Friday to check some hostelries?

Research is underway I believe 

It will be, as pervious posts have suggested, London Bridge / Southbank area.

I have spoken to a couple of places down there and am waiting for their response. I'll let you know asap, but if you're thinking hotels, seriously, anywhere in the centre of town will do.  It's not actually that big a place

Wasn't planning on sleeping Holly,   that there London has bars that stay open for a lot longer than our sleepy village pubs

Word of warning if anyone is looking for hotels - london seems to be hosting a large sports day around july/august and all the hotels and B&Bs seem to be raising their prices inline with the Ritz.

We've got a few tables (and I mean only a few) reserved at the Anchor, Bankside, Southwark, upstairs, from 6pm on the 13th.

Other places I've tried want to charge us a room hire plus a stupid minimum food order so this is as good as it gets in London this summer!  I spoke to the manager at the Old Thameside and to be frank, he was a total cock, so we're not gracing him with our presence...

We are at liberty to use the entire place too, just I have a few tables (with chairs) reserved for the elderly among us to take the weight off our feet. 

The booking is in my name, but I will be sure to send a sherpa along in advance to secure our spot (I don't finish work til 6, so unfortunately you'll have to be patient for my arrival )
