Being my first IM I'm also looking forward to a PB!
Just wonder how many minutes under 17 hours I'll have to spare?

Meldy - is that because the dj called you an arsehole?

Bob - shall we have a sweepstake?

Sweepstake sounds like a great idea...
Guess the finishing time of the fat middle aged novice!
What would the prize be?

No YMCA this time Melds?
My plan for Austria is to enjoy it. I'm not looking for a pb in anything other than smiling

I think he called her an Arsebolt

I'm going to have a word with the DJ too as that wonderful combo of song and "name" has kept us all sniggering over on WAISTers for years

I would like a PB too!

BYF - I wouldn't ask about a prize.....it's likely to be sleeping with Barley as that's the answer to most things!!

Do we get any clues as to your background / ability before the sweepstake starts?

Ability is probably a bit too strong a word to use!
Late forties, currently tipping the scales at the thick end of 16 stone.
No real athletic prowess, but stubborn as a mule.

This year completed the Outlaw Half in 06:42 - would have been closer to 6 hours if the wheels had not well and truly fallen off on the run (02:36 rather than the 2 hours I was expecting - stomach cramps from too much High5 on the bike).

POdds - feel the fear do it anyway wrote (see)

Oooh - well brave laying it on the line so early

What's the current PB?

POdds

im not very fast .. My PB is 12:56 from IM Regansburg in 2011

You'll still have time for a shower and 3 course meal before I'm home WW - don't know how Regansburg compares to Austria course wise but they say Austria is one of the fastest one so that together with true pirate training guarantees a PB doesn't it?

I, on the other hand, am the "proud" owner of the slowest Ironman finish in my tri club's history!!

I just want to get round before the 17 hour cut-off, never done one before but I'm so looking forward to it

Just had to check ... 17hr cut off .... that's positively American

09/09/2014 at 10:22

WW - Is it normally less than that? Do Americans take longer?
