I'm in too and I too have a hybrid road bike at the mo'.  I will be getting a Scott in April so I'm training on the Watt bikes at the gym.  I like to think I will do it in around 6-7 hours - I may of course be delusional one never knows

Sounds like a decent taper!

JFDI. It's not a race so chill about the time (even if you wanted to go fast I fear the business might count against that) but will be an occasion to remember I think?

I still remember getting taken to watch the first London marathon when I was 10. Really want to be part of the first London cycle "marathon". Think it will be definitely something to remember and regret if you got a place and cba'd.

I'm in... I don't own a bike yet. Looking for some advice actually. I have signed up for a duathlon, 2 x tris (sprint and challenge distance) and I have the Ride 100.  I want to buy a road bike and want to get a reasonable spec, what would you advise?

So far I have been recommended to look at bikes with a carbon frame, aluminium forks, a shimano 105 group set and to make sure I get a ladies bike.  Also, it seems a bike fit is key.  I've also been told that Merida are worth looking at. Are there any useful guides out there as right now I am relying on google.

Thanks all

You need a bike that fits and not necc a women's bike

Get to a decent bike shop and see what's on offer, explore cycle to work scheme if that's on offer anywhere

Sorry never heard of the bike make

Thanks M...eldy. Heading to a bike shop that has been recommended to me. Just wanted to go armed with some facts. Right now all of the above is just words! I'll see what they say

My OH has a Merida and he loves it but as Meldy says the right bike will be the one that fits you and "feels" right - sorry not to be more specific!

i'm in, but just about to sell road bike, don't fancy it on TT bike, and think box hill could be a challenge on the singlespeed.... might have to rethink equipment use again.
