you can't win with pants, everyone moans if you wear them without tri kit, everyone moans if you wear them underneath. the only decent thing to do is to put them on over the top and go for the super-hero look.

I really don't get why you're worried. Over here nobody bats an eyelid over what anyone else is wearing, they're far more concerned with the racing. And as you'll be in La Suisse, they are even more unconcerned - it came as a bit of a surprise to me when racing the Swiss 5-days orienteering comp back in the '70s to find that not only did the Swiss set up outdoor standpipe showers each day on the mountainsides but they were completely open, the men's area divided from the women only by a waist high tarp which was obviously only there to give separate areas not for modesty as on a slope everyone can see everyone else anyway.
