Sun 23rd, Sat 29th or Sun 30th
That's really weird. That didn't post how I'd written it.
What is going on with this thing?
23rd September, starting in Ruislip http://www.aukweb.net/cal/index.htm
103km ride, starting at 9.30am
29th September, torture route, down near Lindi's
I could go for the audax AND the torture route but also concerned about the mudguard issue...ehat's that about?
I might need to choose one ride or the other though....
I had problems with the formatting on the new site too....
Everyone is welcome to ride with me and I won't insist on mudguards.... but don't expect me to be near enough to chat if it's raining!
i think the mud-guards thing is mainly to try to force people to be less poncey!
dunno, i have clip-on ones anyway. if in doubt maybe someone could contact the organiser?
If anyone wants to join me on the 23rd, you need to fill in the form from the website and send off a very modest entry fee. I've sent mine off today.
And I might be 'doing a Barlos' on the 29th and be otherwise engaged....
It's one thing being stood up.... but to be stood up because you'd rather be "doing Barlos"
Won't be able to make the 23rd, need to up town for a show starting at 5pm. Unless I set a land speed record around the course, and home again, just run out of time
But, for those doing it, from their FAQ page ...
Is it right that mudguards and lights are compulsory?AUK's regulations used to require mudguards - but not any more. Some events may require mudguards, but that depends on the individual organiser. In the Calendar, the code M indicates that mudguards may be required. Otherwise, they are not required, though their use might be 'encouraged' by some organisers.Lights are required by British law if you ride between the times of dusk and dawn. In practice this could happen on any of AUK's events except a few summer 200s and some shorter events.
Are tri-bars allowed?Yes.
Incase anyone had a sudden urge to join me on the torture route on 29th... I've had a change of plan.... I have to pick the mini ponce up from Woban Abbey that afternoon..... so if anyone fancies a ride somewhere near Woban that day I might well be up for it.
Am I going to be going it alone on the 23rd? It goes out to Ivinghoe, so I'm guessing it'll have a few hills for me to walk up.
Yes I do mean Woburn - I can't believe Barley is correcting my spelling!
Holly - don't worry abotu the hills, just choose a low gear and take it easy, I'm sure you can do it
