Countdown to IMNZ 09
Welcome home Jellybabe
And thanks agian for your support in Taupo - keep finding myself wondering when I might be able to afford/justify going back to do it again, better .
Not been online much due to dodgy reception at home on my new mobile broadband. I'm sitting in the Thames mall at the moment where the reception is excellent.
It was great to meet you all, and good to catch up with Jellybabe and Big Dave - you'r holiday snaps look great!
I have done two tris since IM though nothing as long. I had a sprint (750m, 20km, 5.5km) last weekend and it was my bestest tri ever for everything. Great swim, smooth transitions, fast bike and I really enjoyed the run for a change. Yesterday I did a fun tri in Thames (275m in the pool, 10km, 2.8km). It was a blast and I really enjoyed passing people on the bike (it was in waves and I started in after about 50 others). I actually passed people on the run (for a change) and finished in 53 minutes. Not bad considering T1 resembled IMNZ's T1!.
Autumn is well and truley here so I'm now deciding what my winter goals will be.
I'm in 220 Tri - p131 IMNZ Brit finishers - age group top 10.
fab news well done
have edited my holiday pics and have a couple of good ones of our little pirate brekkie, will suss out how to put them on the forum
Mind you, there was only one Brit in my age group
Look forward to seeing the pics.
This week might be difficult except for Fri/Sat but possibly up for something next week. Now working Tuesdays and Wednesdays so have to avoid those. Have posted on other thread re possibly joining up with Ditchy and TB on Thu 16th.
I am homesick for NZ
would like to try and live and work there in a couple of years time for a a year or two, and the ironman will be on my list of to do's
I know what you meanJellybabe. It's on my mind to do something similar.
Apparently Hamilton is the happening place for immigrants - more Brits are moving there than any other place. Can't think why though. They do have a big hospital if that's any help to you Sally (Waikato Hospital).
I'm now into my winter training - spinning twice a week plus weight training. Also running a little (though just short interval training on the treadmill). No swimming as yet cos I burnt my leg on Casey's motorbike exhaust and apparently it's a third degree burn! Only 7cm wide but it hurts a wee bit.
fancy the south island, maybe christchurch area, may too quiet though
there is an expo in london in oct so we will go to that
Being essentially unskilled and unqualified, not sure NZ will want me
Nothing to lose by investigating further though. Do you have details of that expo Jellybabe?
