So here we are again, same rules as last year (unless you have anything better)

  • 1 point for every mile ran - indoors or out
  • 1 point for every 3 miles biked - road or turbo
  • 1 point for every 400m swam - 1 extra for every 1km in open water

lets have some fun

Nice one Donna.

Can we have a time point allowance for the turbo? Last year it was 15 mins = 1 point.

Personally I think a point for 10 mins would be a more apt reward for the torture.

I came across last years thread late in the day and decided I'd wait till next year (now this year) to start. good start 8 points biking and another 9 for running. also would like a time point allowance for turbo.

like it says " no different from last year" so 15 minutes turbo = 1 point,
personally i measure my turboing in miles as I have a elite gel crono and it mimics the road so closely that i think its allowable, remember on some turbos they have a user variable resistance so someone could be pedalling away and registering 20 mph with out breaking a sweat. last year you could measure your turboing in miles or minutes and i dont reckon theres a enough of a edge or loss either way to warrent changing it. Plum and the rest of the people that debated the points allocation did a good job imo,

In an hour i can bike 21 miles = 7 points, alternatively i run about 7 miles = 7 points and i swim 3k in an hour = 7.5 points so for me its perfectly balanced for me

not balanced for me.i only manage about 14 mph.so not 5 points.....

but its the same for all

but compare that with your run and swim speed seren - what do you get then ? i bet they are pretty similar

no I struggle to get 6 points for swimming......and i could get 7 points if i tried for running.....could never hit 6 points for cycling ever.........but it doesn't matter.the faster you are the more points you can get........but in the end you are only competing againgst yourself to try and better the months before's target

I always find 4 ponts for an hour of turbo torture harsh. On the plus side it does help shove me out the door as on a good day I will get 6 points on the road.

but you could be on a turbo just reading.............I can't earn more than 4/5 outside so 4 inside seems fair......and yes you should go outside.there is no points for running inside

seren - you very nearly get 5 point per hour for biking, you get 5 points for swimming and 6 for running so what i am saying is that for an hours worth of exercise you get roughly the same amount of points, i didnt mean you get the same as me

muffin - i remember the conversation went something like " by biking outside you have to get changed and mess about " but i know what you mean the turbo is point earned the hard way, embrace it, itll make you better - or burn you out

there was points last year for indoors seren, we just didnt tell you

as far as decimals go - at the end of the month i just run garmin reports in Connect and do the math - that way i dont think about the 0.32's and gives a nice addition to the months end total
