Well how about that? Again a German triathlete rides away from the field on the bike. Normann Stadler worked up a big lead on the bike leg, comng in to T2 with Macca 11 mins down. He needed all of that, running 2:55 against Macca's 2:46. Difference at the finish - 71 seconds! 3rd place was last year's winner Al-Sultan,most of the other German pros all finishing in the top 40.

Women's race was dominated as expected by Michellie Jones of Aussieland.

superb result for Richard! When I looked this morning the results hadn't been split out into age groups yet. Excuse me for not knowing, but who is Jenny?

Jenny is RichM's girlfriend..........she qualified like Rich for Kona at IMDE....

Rich was hoping for 10:30 but guess he won't be too unhappy with that time, but looks like Jenny had a bit of a 'mare on the run - slow for her

oh well, she finished Hawaii anyway, that has to be worth quite a lot to anyone's self-esteem!

Nice job Rich and Jenny!!!!

That's imrpessive Stadler was able to pull it together. He's had a rough year this year before Kona. Not having Peter Reid or Tim DeBoom in the race helped out Normann I think.

I can't believe Badmann came in 10th! I'm not surprised Jones did well, but I would've expected Badmann to be second, not Desiree Ficker. That's a breakthrough race for Ficker.

ukk - and a new record bike split too! Badmann, according to the coverage I saw, lost more time on the swim than ever before (13 mins), she's not a good swimmer but this was worse than usual. She made up 8 mins on the bike but fell apart on the run, suffering stomach trouble most of the way. Apparently she was throwing up after about 1/3 of the course. Obviously not her day - she'll be back.

I was watching on line on Saturday night - couldnt see any Serpies though, but followed Richs times online.

Very impressive from both of them.

Wow....not the first time Badmann has thrown up during that race. I have the DVD where she threw up on the run and still managed top three.
