I've just signed up for 5K, I need to get back in the pool more often and this will do it

Hmm - i went for a swim today. Did 2500m in 1:22:00 - not sure how I am going to squeeze 5000m in to 3:00:00! I have never swam more than 2500m.

swim everyday, it helps a lot with the frequencies.

get a coach or a friend to spot your technique

So who signed up?  It's less than 2 weeks away - how did that happen?

I am quite looking forward to it though.

DF3 - try the Outlaw - I am sure that swim is uphill on the way back!

Entered myself and Alice (7) for the team 1.5k - she might manage 500m in 30-minutes then I'll finish it off.

Looking at Hampton outdoor for the 5k - can I bothered with getting to Hampton?

I signed up for the 5k and still wondering why. I have done a couple of 3k swims though lately so I should be ok!

DF3 - thanks

EP - yep, I'll probably be about that time too so long as my arms don't fall off!

I didn't think they allowed fish to take part. Presumably as they have no pockets for sponsorship money.

good luck to everyone doing this this weekend - mine is this afternoon, I'll post afterwards if my arms still work

Good luck ! May the tide be with you ...

Jr Schmunks (aged 13) did 1.5k yesterday in 39:24

I did mine today on 1:01:56.  I was hoping for sub-60 but this is the longest swim (both in time and distance) I have done for almost 2 years, so I am bagging it

27/04/2013 at 17:00

well done to those who have finished and good luck to those doing it tommorrow.

we did 5k as a family with me doing whatever was left at the end. Family went much further than they expected and did really well, I was left with 2550m which took me 54:20.

27/04/2013 at 20:22

well done to those that have already done it. I finished in 2:19:16, kept a pretty even pace throughout which I am pleased with. My right shoulder started hurting with 15 lengths to go, there was no way I wasn't going to finish at that point, but I may need to skpi swimming for a few days now to rest it! strangest thing was my ankles and calves were suffering - from all the pushing off I guess

so pleased I did it, I am sure I was smiling underwater when I was near the finish!

Just back from doing mine, 1:37 for the 5km, a PB of 4 minutes, a real confidence boost ahead of the IM races.

Getting a proper session with officials didn't work, so I did 2.5k solo midweek. Nice to get that under the belt again. 1:07, which I am pleased with, given the fact that a year ago 25m was a long way for me to swim crawl.

Well done everyone.  Just back from mine, 5k in 1:32, very pleased with that although the thumbsup sign from the lane counter to tell me I had finished was the best thing I'd seen all day!.  My shoulders already hate me though

1:33 for me and a PB too.  Well organised event and as everyone has said a confidence boost for IM.
