The 2012 Sportive Thread

Just got a late entry for the Flat out In The Fens tomorrow - 112 miler - probably be in blue and white Derby Mercury top.

Well and truly knackered - 112 miles and did the whole thing into the wind - not a single group - my fault for starting late so the only people I saw I was overtaking.   Those last 30 miles or so were soooo hard into that wind.

How did the rest of you go ?  Looked out for Pirate kit but didn't see any I don't think - unless the skull and crossbones is only on the front.   I really enjoyed it - got caught up with some others going the wrong way because one of the locals  had turned a sign round - probably cost me 15 minutes - so not too bad - not the fault of the organisers though I have to say it was a lot better than when I did one of their events 4 years or so ago.   

I can imagine that course is a bitch with a continual headwind!  Well done guys

I had about 5.45 ride time on my Garmin - think total time must have been over 6 because we were faffing about not knowing which way to go - even phoned the organiser's emergency number but it's hard to describe where you are other than some flat road in the middle of nowhere.   The detour aside I really enjoyed the first 75 miles - and the last 40 were fun when they were over.   

We stopped at the point you went wrong Pops, as one sign pointed left and the other right, someone had a garmin download of the course and just as we left a group turned up who had gone the wrong way.

The 10 miles along the never ending straight road into the headwind was erm interesting.

done this event the last 3 years, don't think there will be a 4th time.

Time was slower than last, but last year was no wind but a lot hotter
