Jul 29th (provisionally) - The Big G Cyclosportive

what's the best timing for a big sportive before Outlaw?

29/11/2012 at 13:53

From a recovery point of view I don't think you need to worry so long as you give it a week - cycling doesn't cause the kind of muscle damage running does.

As far as getting the most benefit goes - I suppose it depends on how it fits into what else you have done - others are better qualified to comment on that as I've never done an Ironman.

I am happy with a 6hr ride 2 weeks out from an IM
Then a 3-4 hr ride the week before

Flat out in the fens used to fit with outlaw..... Not sure what the timing is this year....
They welcome tt bikes / full areo kit so go crank it there as a good bike session, even if its 2-4 weeks ahead.....

Outlaw is quite flat so hilly sportives are not that relevant.
