It's coming to that time of the year again when people are planning events for 2013 and as we have a fair few going to Lanza early in the season I thought it would be a good idea to start a 2013 sportive thread (esp considering I did one last year too )

Lot of great rides out there, did flat out in the fens and the yorkshire ride and motion in mercia last year all of which were excellent. In particular the 112 option in flat out in the fens was a great precursor to the outlaw!

is anyone else struggling to find 2013 events/dates... are we just getting way too organised and the cycle clubs are still trying to pick weekends for their events!!

I'm in for HOTA. Had to set off 10 mins after my mate though... will be interesting to see when I catch him...

what time are you starting?  I'm in at 0856 hrs I think....  It's a cracking event.  I've done it a couple of times before and keep coming back, despite the snow, the wind, the rain, the.................

how important is it for a 1st time Outlaw just wanting to finish to do a 100m ride?

Yes it was a great ride - apart from a load of us getting lost because someone had messed about with the signs - even so I'll be doing it again this year.

I'm planning The Longest Day - specially as its on my birfday. 

The longest day is a good one Soup.  Will you be doing the long or the short?

I can't make it this year as it is same weekend as Brighton Mara but happy to do part or all of the shorter one as a training ride at some point

I'll be doing the short with Mr Soup. A training recce sounds good, ta. 

Ibbos Cake Quest a great sportive in Jan or Feb but next years date not up yet.

I didn't Pixie - in fact I didn't go over 75 miles and only did that once.....

However most cyclists / triathletes / pirates would tear their hair out at that and call me an idiot

Because I am so slow doing very long rides just took up too much time especially as if they went on too long I'd miss the coached swim training session with my tri club
