Well done Mathschick, I did the same with my spare wheel, got to the last bit then needed a bit of strength from Mr Steady. I will probably be turboing on Wednesday.

I thought about doing XC for this winter but the league my club is in have all the races on Saturdays when Mr Steady is off, so will not be doing it, which is a shame as the other girls have a support crew with hot chocolate and cake ready for when people finish.

now I have to confess, I ended up leaving swapping tyres until I had fallen asleep on the sofa, so really couldn't be bothered and didn't turbo this morning

very silly, next turbo session is Thursday so I shall get the wheels swapped before falling asleep tonight, I am hoping that swapping the wheel is going to prove easy and not throw all the gears out for when I want the proper wheel back on for an outside ride on Saturday!

I do love a sofa snooze Maths! Run done, work shortly and holiday Sunday! Woop Woop!

erm, wimped out of going to running club in the rain too, but went to the gym and did a very sweaty tempo run!

Well done on not wimping out totally. I did my pilates class tonight, realised that my L knee is still a bit tender so no kneeling down exercises, but teacher gave me standing versions to do.

Oh no, had first go at using the turbo and it felt really weird/odd and did not like at all. lasted all of a minute on it, will have another go tomorrow.

steady - I have found it feels odd because I feel a lot higher than normal, and it is really hard to get on and off! However, I have been on a few times and found it ok. You just have to stick with it. My bike feels very secure

Had another go on the turbo, much better, but I really need to concentrate on making the pedals go round smoothly. There is hope for me yet.

Steady - I had that problem. Is the friction wheel adjustable? it maybe that its too tight, so it places too much friction on the rear wheel - that was the problem with mine anyway.

I almost tonight on the turbo, found it was on the highest resistance when I finished the workout.

Rafiki - its not the resistance its my pedal action.
There is a dead spot as the foot comes up just before the top so not a flowing motion more on left than right but affects both sides. I had not noticed it when out on the road, so will concentrate on going slowly and smoothly in a circle, it might even make me faster as well if I pedal properly. Spoke with my neighbour who reccommends lots of one leg drills.

Ok ok bit of panic setting in due to that crap illness I had not trained properly yet for Marathon on November 4th. So just sat down and wrote a plan out? It's 5 weeks till race Day so week one starts Monday(don't worry doing 10 miles tomorrow and 4 on Sunday ) 32 miles biggest 12 miles week 2 34 miles biggest 16 week 3 40 miles biggest 20 GULP!!! Week 4 24 miles biggest 10 miles week 5 final week just two runs Tuesday 6 miles Thursday 3 miles also swim on each Sunday night. Does that sound ok? Should I increase miles??

sounds ok to me ST, mind you I haven't done one before, thing is, you don't want to end up doing too much and getting injured

I now have a crap cold so am going to miss some training, and haven't done a long run for 3 weeks because of doing tris, oops

Hi ST,

I think that looks alright. I did a couple of 18-19 for my mara last year. As Maths says, you don't want to get injured. Is the last 10 miler the week before the mara. The 20 will be hard but it is the killer test. Use it for testing clothing and nutrition so on the day you're all set.

If you're desperate to do more, throw in some easy bike rides as a recovery. Make sure they're S L O W. You could also another easy swim in the week if you need more recovery.

Don't forget to eat the right stuff and sleep well.

I didn't think those miles were to big? That's big weekly wise? 20 miles is ambitious but do hope I don't talk myself out of it. I just need a good run of training to build up confidence for the day.

It's the sleep that's a killer for me with my early 3am starts. My runs in week will be once finished work before picking kids up from school, that's when I normally grab 30 minute snooze. Yes 10 miler is on Sat before the race week on Sunday.

ST - sleep is overrated
